Stay True To The Word
Stay True To The Word
It is important to have right doctrine. There are many false doctrines out there today. The other faith’s are easy to recognize, however there are some doctrines that creep into the church that are not sound. Perhaps you have heard of seeker friendly churches. These are churches that go into their communities and ask them what they want tin a church. Once they determine this they develop a strategy to get people in church by giving them what they want. This seems like a good idea and doesn’t seem to be wrong. But what happens is you get people coming to church and you have to keep them with the very thing you got them there with. This is often a form of entertainment or service that you provide. Unfortunately, you sacrifice truth in order to keep people from leaving.
The Bible is the true Word of God. Paul was telling Timothy not to deviate from the teaching he was given. Today we have the Word of God in written form. We must be faithful to it. It holds the truths of life that all people need.
We as a church must be dedicated to studying God’s Word. We must know it for our own personal lives. We must study it so we can teach it to others.

Paul reminds Timothy that he has the Holy Spirit residing in him. It is the Holy Spirit that will keep him from falling into worldly temptations and leaving the faith like many other people had done. It is only by the power of the Holy Spirit that he will be able to resist the temptation.
We also have the Holy Spirit dwelling in us. We too must guard that which has been entrusted to us. We must live differently than others. Others must notice that we are different. We should not be accepting or accept the ways of the world. If you look like everyone else, you may want to consider if you have the Holy Spirit within you.
The Holy Spirit changes a person to look more like Christ. If we look more like the world than Christ we need to asses our salvation.

Everyone deserted Paul except Onesiphorus. This was very discouraging to Paul. To be deserted is one of the most disappointing things that can happen to a person. Paul was encouraged by Onesiphorus because he was not ashamed of Paul’s chains for Christ. He sought him out and ministered to Him.
We must stay faithful to one another.
