Believe The Truth

Believe - Accept - A Lie or A Truth

Believe - To trust 28
What you accept is equal to what you believe
Our life is governed by what we believe therefore the enemy tries to get us to believe a lie instead of the truth
John 3:12 KJV 1900
12 If I have told you earthly things, and ye believe not, how shall ye believe, if I tell you of heavenly things?
There are two areas we need to develop our belief
Number One: Believing what God said about earthly things
Number Two: Believing what God said about heavenly things
The enemy will try to distort our belief in what God has said about me concerning my earthly things and my heavenly things
The enemy tries to get us to accept false thoughts, principles, and statements without any dispute or resistance from us
The connection of Hope to believing
John 3:12 KJV 1900
12 If I have told you earthly things, and ye believe not, how shall ye believe, if I tell you of heavenly things?
john 3:12 2 areas to believe
2 areas to believe
Earthly Things
Heavenly Things
Accepting:
How the enemy changes our belief
He tries to get us to accept false things as truth, and to receive the false without dispute
Receiving things without dispute
Jesus resisted every challenge to his belief at his temptaion
at the temptation the devil tried to change what Christ accepted
John 8:44 KJV 1900
44 Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.
Jesus resisted every challenge to his belief at his temptaion
at the temptation the devil tried to change what Christ accepted
The devil is the father of lies
Matthew 4:1–11 KJV 1900
1 Then was Jesus led up of the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted of the devil. 2 And when he had fasted forty days and forty nights, he was afterward an hungred. 3 And when the tempter came to him, he said, If thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread. 4 But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God. 5 Then the devil taketh him up into the holy city, and setteth him on a pinnacle of the temple, 6 And saith unto him, If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down: for it is written, He shall give his angels charge concerning thee: and in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone. 7 Jesus said unto him, It is written again, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God. 8 Again, the devil taketh him up into an exceeding high mountain, and sheweth him all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them; 9 And saith unto him, All these things will I give thee, if thou wilt fall down and worship me. 10 Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve. 11 Then the devil leaveth him, and, behold, angels came and ministered unto him.
Matt 4:1-11
During this temptation the devil tried to change what Christ accepted but Jesus resisted every challenge to his belief
The Three “IF” challenge
If thou be the son of God....
If thou be the son of God....
If thou .......
The devil is attacking Jesus because he knows who He is but begins each temptation with the word “IF”
define IF - If always introduces a conditional clause which causes doubt
During Jesus physical weak condition the devil is trying to sow an If, or a doubt in the mind of Jesus
What should have been said is that Since you are the son of God make the stones bread
