Bible Text:
3 Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves,

Jesus Washes the Disciples’ Feet

13 Now before the Feast of the Passover, when Jesus knew that his hour had come to depart out of this world to the Father, having loved his own who were in the world, he loved them to the end. 2 During supper, when the devil had already put it into the heart of Judas Iscariot, Simon’s son, to betray him, 3 Jesus, knowing that the Father had given all things into his hands, and that he had come from God and was going back to God, 4 rose from supper. He laid aside his outer garments, and taking a towel, tied it around his waist. 5 Then he poured water into a basin and began to wash the disciples’ feet and to wipe them with the towel that was wrapped around him.

4 not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others.
5 In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus:
And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross.
6 Who, being in very natureGod, did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage;

7 rather, he made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness.
8 And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death— even death on a cross!
Bottom Line: Humility is not only necessary to enter the kingdom, it is also necessary to be great in the kingdom
When I say the word Humility what is the first thing that come to mind?
When I say the word Humility what is the first thing that come to mind?
What about the word Humiliation?
While these two words are derived from the same root, they are on opposite ends of the spectrum in regards to meaning. Humiliation is “to cause a painful loss of pride, self-respect, or dignity.” In contrast, humility means “a modest opinion of one's own importance.”
The Bible describes humility as meekness, lowliness, and absence of self. The Greek word translated “humility” in and elsewhere literally means “lowliness of mind,” so we see that humility is a heart attitude, not merely an outward demeanor.

Getting Pulled over really can humble anyone specially a young punk like me.
The Bible tells us to be humble and to have Humility as we walk out our faith. We also see that Humility is not only necessary to enter the kingdom, it is also necessary to be great in the kingdom
So how do we do this?
How do we live this out?

1. Commit our Lives to Him

"So commit yourself to God completely. Reach out your hands to him for help.
14 Get rid of all of the sin you have. Don't let anything that is evil stay in your tent.
When we come to Christ as sinners, we must come in humility. We acknowledge that we are paupers and beggars who come with nothing to offer Him but our sin and our need for salvation.
We recognize our lack of merit and our complete inability to save ourselves. Then when He offers the grace and mercy of God, we accept it in humble gratitude and commit our lives to Him and to others. We “die to self” so that we can live as new creations in Christ
We never forget that He has exchanged our worthlessness for His infinite worth, and our sin for His righteousness. The life we now live, we live by faith in the Son of God who loved us and gave Himself for us

2. Submit in obedience to His Word.

2. Submit in obedience to His Word.

2. Submit in obedience to His Word.

And this is love: that we walk in obedience to his commands. As you have heard from the beginning, his command is that you walk in love.

6 And this is love: that we walk in obedience to his commands. As you have heard from the beginning, his command is that you walk in love.
Jesus is our model- He did not come to be served, but to serve, so must we commit ourselves to serving others, considering their interests above our own
This attitude precludes selfish ambition, conceit, and the strife that comes with self-justification and self-defense. Jesus was not ashamed to humble Himself as a servant even to death on the cross
In His humility, He was always obedient to the Father and so should the humble Christian be willing to put aside all selfishness and submit in obedience to God and His Word. True humility produces godliness, contentment, and security.

3. Commit to serving Others

Jesus, knowing that the Father had given all things into his hands, and that he had come from God and was going back to God, rose from supper. He laid aside his outer garments, and taking a towel, tied it around his waist. Then he poured water into a basin and began to wash the disciples’ feet and to wipe them with the towel that was wrapped around him
Jesus is our model- He did not come to be served, but to serve, so must we commit ourselves to serving others, considering their interests above our own
Jesus was the true meaning of humility.
And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross.
Conclusion:
As A christian we Look to Jesus as our example who gave up everything so we could be Forgiven. He was the very example of humility. We should Commit our Lives to Him. Submit in obedience to His Word. And Commit to serving Others. Jesus did All these things. So my challenge to you today is this walk in humility knowing that Jesus Did it first. And understand that Humility is not only necessary to enter the kingdom, it is also necessary to be great in the kingdom. so if you want to be great in the kingdom walk in Humility.
Conclusion:
considering their interests above our own

8 And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross.
