Introduction
We will be concluding chapter 2 today go back and listen to the other sermons on the popcast
Last week we focused on chapter 2 verses 4-7
Today we will conclude chapter 2 verse 8-10 primarily that will be our focus
I would like us to read together verse 1-10 so that we see the full context of where we are headed today so please stand with me and read
And you were dead in the trespasses and sins in which you once walked, following the course of this world, following the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that is now at work in the sons of disobedience— among whom we all once lived in the passions of our flesh, carrying out the desires of the body and the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, like the rest of mankind. But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ—by grace you have been saved— and raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, so that in the coming ages he might show the immeasurable riches of his grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.
Two kinds of people
born of Adam in sin ----
born again in Christ -----
Grace you have been saved
Grace you have been saved
For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.

Connection with verse 5
GIFT
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.
he saved us, not because of works done by us in righteousness, but according to his own mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewal of the Holy Spirit,
And you, who were dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, God made alive together with him, having forgiven us all our trespasses,

Biblical definition of GRACE
NOT A RESULTS OF WORKS
NOT A RESULTS OF WORKS
not a result of works, so that no one may boast.
Works vs justification by grace
yet we know that a person is not justified by works of the law but through faith in Jesus Christ, so we also have believed in Christ Jesus, in order to be justified by faith in Christ and not by works of the law, because by works of the law no one will be justified.
Then what becomes of our boasting? It is excluded. By what kind of law? By a law of works? No, but by the law of faith.
For by works of the law no human being will be justified in his sight, since through the law comes knowledge of sin.
who saved us and called us to a holy calling, not because of our works but because of his own purpose and grace, which he gave us in Christ Jesus before the ages began,
WE are HIS workmanship
WE are HIS workmanship
For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.
Faith alone but faith is never alone
