Wide Open Spaces- Expansion

(The Message) 11–13 Dear, dear Corinthians, I can’t tell you how much I long for you to enter this wide-open, spacious life. We didn’t fence you in. The smallness you feel comes from within you. Your lives aren’t small, but you’re living them in a small way. I’m speaking as plainly as I can and with great affection. Open up your lives. Live openly and expansively!

Free- to set free, be freed from captivity

Know-learn with understanding, acknowledge, know intimately

He Will Guide In All Truth

Guide- Lead, guide in truth, instruct, explain.

We need to be taught what the truth is by the Holy Spirit. If somebody is not taught something they are called ignorant. - lacking knowledge or comprehension, untrained,unlearned

(NIV) 6 my people are destroyed from lack of knowledge.

(The Message) My people are ruined because they don’t know what’s right or true.

Destroyed- Fail, cut down, perishing, to be in a ruinous state

Ignorant Believers - lacking knowledge

-Never Taught - Bible, Church, People

-Self Righteous, blind leading blind, prince of this world has blinded....

-Stubborn, don't want to change

-Not Ready

Bear- Endure, Sustain, Receive, Carry, Take up,accept, carry the weight of.

“He Cant Take the Truth about himself.”

Maturity- Ability to take personal responsibility

Self Pity- Cant take the truth and do the wow is me.

Gods Word Convicts Conscience

(The Message)

You are my friends when you do the things I command you. I’m no longer calling you servants because servants don’t understand what their master is thinking and planning. No, I’ve named you friends because I’ve let you in on everything I’ve heard from the Father.

Gods Word Convicts Conscience

(NKJV 8 And again He stooped down and wrote on the ground. 9 Then those who heard it, being convicted by their conscience, went out one by one, beginning with the oldest even to the last. And Jesus was left alone, and the woman standing in the midst.

Conscience- psychological faculty that distinguishes between right and wrong

Convicted- rebuke, expose, show ones fault, to be convinced of fault

-Designed With A Conscience- we all are designed by God with a conscience.

-Our Warning System- It Shows Faults , Warns of Wrong

Illustration- A plane is designed with early warning systems to alert the pilots of danger. Lights flash and alarms sound to get the pilots attention. The greater the danger the louder and brighter the alarms. It is critical that the pilot respond.

-Keeps Pilot Safe

-Keeps Crew and Passengers Safe

-Activated By Gods Word

Jesus the Word who became flesh speaks and it finds the God designed conscience and activates. The response in the conscience is conviction. Conviction that results in stones being dropped.

It saves them from being murderers. Saves the woman from a cruel death.

What would have happened if the mob had not encountered Gods Word???

Conviction & Condemnation

God Convicts- The Devil Condemns

Condemn- Damn, Punish

Accuser- Same Word Satan, Accuser of the brethren

Religious Rules- Accuses, Kills

Gods Word- Convicts

No Condemnation

Mouth to Mouth- Gods resuscitation from death.
