Power to Witness

Notes

Introduction

The book of Acts (Which was written by Luke) begins with the outpouring of the promised of the Holy Spirit and the commencement of the proclamation of the gospel of Jesus Christ.
According to Jesus Plan: The Gospel was to go to Jerusalem, to Judea, to Smaria, and to the ends of the earth.
Ten days after Jesus ascended back into heaven (), the Holy Spirit was poured out upon 120 of Jesus’ followers who waited and prayed (; ). The same disciples who had trembled in fear of being identified with Jesus (, ) were suddenly empowered to boldly proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ, allowing them to become effective witness of Christ...
Do you want more of God ‘s power? Do you want to walk in a greater degree of God love? Do you want to have strength to overcome the deeds of the flesh so that you can live your life free from sin? Do you desire to have more boldness in witnessing for the Lord? Would you like to know how to pray for every situation you are faced with? Are you longing to have more joy and peace in your life?
You see I could probably ask a hundred, or more question like these and still not cover everything the Holy Spirit has for us.
So I’m going to just focus on ,
The scripture said, first you need the power, Second you shall witness, Third places you shall go
I. What is the power of the Holy Spirit?"
II. The Answer: The power of the Holy Spirit is the power of God. The Holy Spirit is the third Person of the Trinity, that has appeared throughout Scripture as a Being, through and by whom great works of power are made manifest
III. Jesus promised that the power of the Holy Spirit’s would help His followers to spread the message of the gospel around the world.
The salvation of souls is a supernatural work only made possible by the power of the Holy Spirit’s at work in the world
Charles Stanley said: Spiritual power is the divine energy God is willing to express in and though us and the divine authority needed to carry out the work God has called us to do
The holy spirit anoint us with Power to helps us in our weakness to become Effective Witnesses with for Christ
Note: This is not just any ordinary power, in the Greek it is called dunamis power. And the root word in the English is dynamite; The word dunamis power is often refers to strength, power, or ability.”Miraculous power or marvelous works.

TELL THEIR STORY
I’m Popeye the sailor man, I’m popeye the sailor man
I’m strong to the finish cause I eat my spinach.
Well guess – what? We are strong to the finish too, not because we eat our spinach, but because we have the Power of the Holy Spirit that dwell within us given us the strength we need to defeat our enemy and to and accomplish what God has called us to do, and that to be a witness of Him.
How do you received the Holy Spirit
()
38 “Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.
39 The promise is for you and your children and for all who are far off—for all whom the Lord our God will call.”

Power to witness for Christ

What is a witness?
A witness is someone who testifies about what they know, and in this case it is who we know. Witnessing is not possible for those who do not know Christ that is why we need power to witness.
Witnessing is a vital part of the Christian life, the bible teaches that the true believer will desire to share with others what God has done for him
You see Christ knew that the disciple would not be able to witness in their own stenght, that why He sent the Holy Spirit to give them the Power they needed to witness. And that same power turn their fear into boldness, their failure in to success.
We know that power was effective in their witnessing, because on the day of Pennecost as they went out and delivered the message of Jesus the bible said atleast three thousand soul were added to the church.
When the Holy Spirit works, there is movement, excitement, and growth. He gives us the motivation, energy, and ability to get the gospel to the whole world. We are God people, chosen to be part of his plan to reach the world

where should we take the MESSAGE?

MY STORY
George Sweeting, in his book The No-Guilt Guide for Witnessing, tells of a man by the name of John Currier who in 1949 was found guilty of murder and sentenced to life in prison. Later he was transferred and paroled to work on a farm near Nashville, Tennessee.
In 1968, Currier's sentence was terminated, and a letter bearing the good news was sent to him. But John never saw the letter, nor was he told anything about it. Life on that farm was hard and without promise for the future. Yet John kept doing what he was told even after the farmer for whom he worked had died.
Ten years went by. Then a state parole officer learned about Currier's predicament, found him, and told him that his sentence had been terminated. He was a free man.
Sweeting concluded the story by asking, "Would it matter to you if someone sent you an important message -- the most important message in your life -- and year after year the urgent message was never delivered?"
We who have heard the good news and experienced freedom through Christ are responsible to proclaim it to others still enslaved by sin. Are we doing all we can to deliver the important message of Christ?
We are living in a world where people need to hear the Good news of Jesus and it is our job as Children of God to take that message to the world. Witnessing must be universal starting at home, our community, on the job and everywhere we go to everyone we meet.
IN CONCLUSION
How many people have we failed to witness to , whether they have gone on, or they are still living here on earth?
YOU NEVER MENTIONED JESUS TO ME NOR HELP ME THE LIGHT TO SEE YOU MET ME DAY BY DAY AND KNEW I WAS A-STRAY YOU NEVER MENTIONED JESUS TO ME
How many people have we failed to tell them Jesus is the Savior of the world? How many people that we fail to tell that () While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. How many family members, friends, and coworker, have we fail to tell about Christ, his death, burial and resurrection How many people have we fail to to deliver the most important message in life . Jesus Saves.
Well, for those that have gone on, we can’t go back, but we can start now because we have the power to witness. It is not our job to saved people, but it’s our responsibility to witness to them and allow the Holy Spirit to do the rest.
