REMEMBERING JESUS
Notes

Communion is open to all those who place their faith in the PERFECT sacrificial work of Jesus on the cross as full payment for their sin. After you take the elements, we recommend a time of remembrance and heart examination. Then partake of the bread and the cup whenever you are ready. When you are done, you can put the cup in the holder at the bottom of the chair in front of you.

Remembering Jesus, His death and resurrection is certainly a focal point of Communion. However, that focal point and reminder is ment to go beyond this ordinance. If we only think about Jesus at church, during communion, we’re doing it wrong.
What I want to emphasis this morning is that our communion time is meant to remind us not simply of Jesus and the Resurrection but it is to remind us that we are to CONSTANTLY remember Jesus. Our communion time is meant get us remembering Jesus and His resurrection not only as it relates to being at church and sharing communion but we are to remember Jesus in EVERYTHING.
Consider Paul exhortation to young Timothy as he is being trained up to do gospel ministry. One of the many commands that Timothy receives is to “Remember Jesus”
Look at;
8 Remember Jesus Christ, risen from the dead, the offspring of David, as preached in my gospel,
What’s interesting is that the word remember is a command that is active and continuous. In other words what Paul is saying to young Timothy and really all believers is, “ALWAYS BE REMEMBERING JESUS CHRIST, RISEN FROM THE DEAD!” So we are to Remember Jesus CONSTANTLY.
We’re also to Remember that Jesus takes His rightful place as First and most important in every facet of life and creation. We see this in
There is an implication of the glorious reality that Jesus Christ is indeed Risen from the dead and that is found in .
18 And he is the head of the body, the church. He is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in everything he might be preeminent.
Though there are numerous things that the Resurrection accomplished,
I want us to Notice that the very purpose of the resurrection given in this text is that in EVERYTHING Jesus would be preeminent.
I want us to NOTICE that the very purpose of the resurrection given in THIS text is that in EVERYTHING Jesus would be preeminent that He would take first place in every aspect of EVERYTHING.
This simply means that we must remember and worship Jesus as the King of Kings and Lord of Lords and we should NOT allow ANY ONE or ANY THING to take His rightful place as First in ALL THINGS!
Let’s Remember that by the resurrection Jesus demonstrated for all time that He is worthy of our Constant remembrance and Worship in All Things and in ALL circumstances.
Let’s remember Him.
