We will look at then and how men then and now attempt the same things and in that, we also have to understand that God is also the same, then and now

Read Gen. 11:1-9
We live in a nation of empires. As I sat down to put together what God had given me to give to His children, a link to the most wealthy families in the U.S. popped up and out of curiosity, I took a look at it. Families worth billions of dollars, some only worth millions. Please don't mis-understand me, this is not a sermon that speaks against wealth, or even those who have it, but only to make a point that we do live in a nation of empires.
Now God had instructed the descendants of Noah to populate the earth and instead, they decided to settle in Shinar, and there they built not only a city, but also a tower, the tower we know as The Tower of Babel.
Everyone spoke the same language (v.1)
there were no language barriers to overcome
everyone knew what the other person was saying
They settled in the land of Shinar (v.2)
this is not what God had instructed them to do ()
In fact was a deliberate act of rebellion
The built the tower (v.4)
Their attempt to build a tower that would reach to heaven was not an attempt to get closer to heaven but was in fact mans attempt to make a name for themselves
building the tower was man boasting in his own abilities
The two reasons for their actions in
They were uniting to build the city and the tower
In doing so their purpose was two-fold
to maintain unity in opposing God
To make a name for themselves
The penalty for this was that
God confounded the language of the workers making it impossible for them to work together and ultimately stopping their progress
Hear are some point for us to look at so far
in his attempt to elevate himself, man became confounded and confused
man could no longer understand each other
this began the different languages of man
it was through God’s Holy Spirit coming on the day of Pentecost that reversed this
man couldn’t understand each other
man could understand in his own language
man was confused and divided
man was enlightened and unified under God through the Holy Spirit
this is a clear demonstration of man’s failing and God succeeding. What man could not accomplish, man could
So What does this have to do with us today
Two key point to look at
the fact that man is still trying to unify in opposition to God
man is still trying to exalt himself in his achievements all the while failing to give glory to God for all of His
Men are uniting in just about anything as long as it has nothing to do with God
Or they are uniting in things that have just a touch of Godliness, but are far from the Gospel
We are headed towards a one world church where everyone gets to choose their own Jesus and a comfortable doctrine
We are headed towards a church in which the government tells us who Jesus can be
We are fast headed to a one world concept
Christians and Muslims believe in Jesus Christ, and their scriptures (the Bible and the Koran) reflect that belief. Technically, most Jews, as well as Wiccans, Hindus, Taoists, and even atheists and agnostics also believe in Jesus Christ.
But Christians alone believe that Jesus Christ is the son of God, and worship him as God.
For true Christians that believe in Christ in His full capacity, must also believe in the Bible which in turn means believing also brings about a change in the life of a believer.
From then to now, men are still trying to unify in ways that will exclude God.
Now there may have been U
