Recap
Last week, Stacy shared with you all the great importance of living the way that God created us to live.
She explained that following GOd is not just doing the right thing.
Even tho we often think of living lives for Jesus in the sense of all the things that we DONT do, we got to see Jesus teach that that is not actually what it means to be a Christian.
Instead, Jesus wants us to Just have a relationship with HIM.
GOd’s word shows us that we can obey EVERYTHING IN HIS ENTIRE BIBLE, simply by doing 2 things.
love God
Love people
If we obey those 2 things, then we will Obey the entire Bible.
Thats it, thats all it takes!!
As Jesus preached through His sermon on the mount, He went deeper and deeper into what it looks like to live for Him by loving Him and sharing that love with the people around us.
As Jesus does this, He brings up different topics that often keep us from loving God and the people around us.
You see, we were created to know and love Him.
So whatever we do, we are suppose to do for Him.
There are some things, however, that are impossible to do for Jesus.
You cant hate someone for Jesus
you cant hurt someone for Jesus
you cant lust after someone in a way that is for Jesus
you cant murder someone for Jesus.
Does that make sense?
This is because God made us to do all things by His strength and as He leads us.
God will never lead us to do those things that I listed just now.
With this in mind, I want to go ahead and share something that getz in the way of our loving Jesus.
