John 13:18-30 “Is Evil A Part of God’s Plan”

As you listen to the Sermon today, try and answer some of these
questions to contemplate the meaning of the text and think about how
it applies to your life.
1) Vs.18-20 : Jesus knew the One’s He had chosen as His disciples
and He knew that He was about to be betrayed by one of them.
What purpose does Jesus say that this has? What does this tell
you about the nature of God in relation to evil?

2) Vs. 21: How did Jesus react to the evil that was about to befall Him,
even though it was ultimately the joint plan He has with God the
Father? What does this say about Jesus attitude towards evil?
What should our response be to evil, knowing that God in His
sovereignty uses it for a good purpose?

3) Vs. 22-30: Did the disciples understand what was going on? When
Peter tried to get John to find out who the betrayer was, did this
ultimately help them to understand the greater plan of God?

4) How should we respond to evil? Should we try to understand what
God’s purpose is in it? Can we properly understand that when we
are in the midst of the evil? How should we turn to God when there
is evil around us, what should our hope be?
