36 For you have need of endurance, so that after you have done the will of God, you may receive the promise:
37 “For yet a little while, And He who is coming will come and will not tarry.
38 Now the just shall live by faith; But if anyone draws back, My soul has no pleasure in him.”
39 But we are not of those who draw back to perdition, but of those who believe to the saving of the soul.
Title - Justified: The Proof Is In The Life
Background
Background
Paul’s primary issue against the Jews was their dependence on works for justification.
It was to the Galatians, who were bewitched by some teachers of the law.
It is here, in his epistle to the Hebrew believers, who somehow wanted to stay in the law despite having received the gospel of Jesus Christ.
Paul quoted times in his epistles:
in
in
here in
In our Bible Class lesson, we have seen that God justifies a person only by faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.
The Main Point
The Main Point
Questions:
How does one know that he/she has been justified before God?
How does one know he/she is justified for life?
Answer:
The “proof” of your justification is your life!
How you live your life today - that shows whether you are justified or not.

Sermon Points
If you have been justified - you live it by faith!
If you have been justified - you live it by faith!
20 I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.
A man or woman who has been declared righteous by God, IS OVERFLOWING WITH FAITH.
- he walks by faith
- he understands by faith
- he offers a more excellent sacrifice than the nominal Christian, by faith, just like Abel
- he pleases God by faith, like Enoch
- he moves with godly fear, by faith, like Noah
- he obeys God by faith, like Abraham
- he forsakes the world by faith, like Moses
- he conquers enemies by faith, like Joshua
YOU CANNOT STOP A JUSTIFIED MAN/WOMAN FROM EXPRESSING HIS FAITH.
FAITH IS HIS LIFE!
When you live by faith - God’s Righteousness is revealed in your life!
When you live by faith - God’s Righteousness is revealed in your life!
16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek.
17 For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, “The just shall live by faith.”
God’s righteousness is revealed TO YOU!
as you live by faith, God speaks to you and teaches you His righteousness!
God’s righteousness is revealed or demonstrated TO THE WORLD AROUND YOU!
as you learn God’s righteousness and continue to live by faith, the world sees God’s righteousness.
They see a brand new person
They see a holy, sanctified life
If you have been justified - you endure and not draw back!
If you have been justified - you endure and not draw back!
Hebrews 10.36
36 For you have need of endurance, so that after you have done the will of God, you may receive the promise:
38 Now the just shall live by faith; But if anyone draws back, My soul has no pleasure in him.”
Hebrews 10.3
A man/woman that has been justified by God will not regress or return to the old sinful life!
why would she exchange this holy life for a sinful life!
why would he exchange this glorious freedom in Christ with a life of bondage in sin!
why would I exchange a life of friendship with God and become an enemy of God once again!
A man/woman who has been justified by God will press forward until the promise is claimed by faith!
34 for you had compassion on me in my chains, and joyfully accepted the plundering of your goods, knowing that you have a better and an enduring possession for yourselves in heaven.
Hebrews 10.34
YOU CANNOT STOP A JUSTIFIED MAN/WOMAN FROM PRESSING ONWARD.
HIS/HER HEART IS ALREADY SET FOR ETERNITY!
HIS/HER MIND IS SET ON POSSESSING THE PROMISES OF GOD!
39 But we are not of those who draw back to perdition, but of those who believe to the saving of the soul.
Conclusion
Conclusion
39 But we are not of those who draw back to perdition, but of those who believe to the saving of the soul.
How do you know you are not “working” to gain justification, or to become righteous by your own efforts?
Answer:
YOU LIVE A LIFE OF JOYFUL OBEDIENCE TO GOD’S WORD
THERE IS NO RESISTANCE TO GOD’S WILL.
YOU SAY AMEN WHENEVER GOD SPEAKS TO YOU - WHETHER IT IS DOCTRINE, REBUKE, CORRECTION OR INSTRUCTION IN RIGHTEOUSNESS!
You are NOT living by faith when -
there is resistance to God’s will for your life
there is fear of failure on your part
there is fear that God is displeased
YOU ARE LIVING BY FAITH WHEN -
THERE IS JOYFUL RECEPTION OF GOD’S WORD FOR YOUR LIFE
YOU SAY AMEN AND OBEY WHENEVER GOD SPEAKS TO YOU - WHETHER IT IS DOCTRINE, REBUKE, CORRECTION OR INSTRUCTION IN RIGHTEOUSNESS!
IF YOU EVER MAKE MISTAKE, THERE IS IMMEDIATE REPENTANCE AND GETTING BACK ON YOUR FEET AND A DESIRE TO LIVE EVER CLOSER TO GOD
THERE IS CONFIDENCE, NOT IN YOUR OWN EFFORT, BUT IN CHRIST’S RIGHTEOUS ACTS DONE IN YOUR BEHALF!
