Habakkuk the prophet confronts God on his seemingly indifference to the violence that is on Israel and the sin that is in Judah. While opressed between to powerful nations Habakkuk wants answers on why the wicked prosper and the righteous receive the punishment. The stuggle is that Habakkuk doesn't understand God.

Habakkuk

question 1: Why do you allow this injustice and inequity
why do you make me see iniquity ?
This is actually a very interesting question. The prophet is complaining to God as you would expect God to complain to the prophet. As if the prophet is suggesting that the injustice of the people to God is more intolerable to him than to God.
Why do you idly look at wrong?
To suggest that God is idle ever is interesting, but to consider that God is just sitting and looking at evil without conducting a means towards righteousness is ......uncomfortable....maybe that the right word.
the law is paralyzed
the wickedness surrounding the righteous is actually preventing the law of God to be acted on. Justice by the prophets perspective is impossible in their current condition.
The Lords Response
God’s Response :Who and what God uses for Justice and Judgement is of no concern. Ultimately the tool is only a means to repair the problem. Habakkuk is so focused on the means by which God operates that he misses the message of God’s operation.
The things I am doing are bigger than any story you would believe.
I am using evil for my judgment…wait for it…and they think its them winning
Habakkuk Round 2
Paraphrase(God how do you allow bad people to harm those that are not as bad as them) vs13
Your allowance of victory to the evil is permission for their continued hatred and evil killings…how long?
Standing at the watchpost: An image of expectancy and defense. Very interesting verbiage. Have you ever anticipated God and yet already prepared to defend against what he says?
The vision of destruction is to be written down.
It should be written on Tablet. This for durability
It should invoke fear
The 5 woes
pillaging
financial opression
harshness and evil treatment of nations and people
promoting drunkeness for promiscuity sake
worship of idols
The New Heart of Habakkuk

O LORD, I have heard the report of you,

and your work, O LORD, do I fear.

In the midst of the years revive it;

in the midst of the years make it known;

in wrath remember mercy.

Habakkuk in vs 17-19 surrenders. Its a hopeful surrender to the will of God with anticipation of the Faithfulness of God. This ultimately is the faithfulness of Habakkuk revealed. His questions have been satisfied.
