I’m a friend

We have started a new series… FREQUENCY
Tune in … hear God and how we can aplly some principles that will help us to tune in to hear God because God speaks and desires to speak with you.
One of the most questions that I get asked as a pastor is… How do I know what God will is and how can I hear Him?
We all will have choices and decesions to make in life and how awesome would it be to hear God’s voice to direct and guide us, well we can because God speaks in so many ways...
We can hear Him… but we can’t limit Him to speaking only thru His word which He does but that is only one way He speaks....
(He talked about Moses and the burning bush, Pharaoh and the plagues, Hezekiah and his illness, Belshazzar and the writing on the wall, Balaam and the donkey.)
So last week we established somethings…
God is a communicative God… He created you with the ability to speak
We are sheep… why does this matter? Let’s look at our foundational scripture
My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me.
As sheep we have this INNATE ability to hear God
“He who is of God hears God’s words; therefore you do not hear, because you are not of God.”
We being born again have this ability… it is INNATE- LEARNED-MATURED
So this week we will continue
The subtile this week is - “I’m a freind “
Let me give you two illustrations here… you and I are friend and you are in the hospital...
I drop off some book and never go inside or I visit and talk with you, which friend would you rather have?
God doesn’t just want to drop off a book He wrote , God wants to sit and talk with you.
There are many types of friends in the world.
No longer do I call you servants, for a servant does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all things that I heard from My Father I have made known to you.
There is the drive-by-and-drop-off-a- book friend, the give-you-a-call-once-a-month friend, and the friend who calls, texts, and stops by often to personally talk face-to-face with you.
What kind of friend do you prefer? What kind of friend are you?
God wants to be your friend...
No longer do I call you servants, for a servant does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all things that I heard from My Father I have made known to you.
Made known to you - is known/spoken to you… 3 truths I want to leave with you today...
1. God wants to be personal with YOU
God wants to be your friend because He loves you...
We communicate two ways, mechanically to machines and personally to people.
Cars / pedals … computers…
God does not want to communicate mechanically with us;
He wants to communicate personally.
God talks to us because He loves us, not just to give us direction.
Friends speak one to another...
“I still have many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now. 13 However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come
God wants to be personal to you...
2.God speaks to people.
There are amazing records in the Bible where God speaks to people.
Geneis 16:17 And the Lord said, “Shall I hide from Abraham what I am doing, 18 since Abraham shall surely become a great and mighty nation, and all the nations of the earth shall be blessed in him? 19 For I have known him, in order that he may command his children and his household after him, that they keep the way of the Lord, to do righteousness and justice, that the Lord may bring to Abraham what He has spoken to him.” 20 And the Lord said, “Because the outcry against Sodom and Gomorrah is great, and because their sin is very grave, 21 I will go down now and see whether they have done altogether according to the outcry against it that has come to Me; and if not, I will know.” 22 Then the men turned away from there and went toward Sodom, but Abraham still stood before the Lord.
To hear God, stop what you are doing and draw near to God.
God does not speak differently now than He did in the Bible.
Other men walked away what about you?
God does not speak differently now than He did in the Bible.
22 Then the men turned away from there and went toward Sodom, but Abraham still stood before the Lord. God does not speak differently now than He did in the Bible.
God does not speak differently now than He did in the Bible.
People believe God speaks less than He did in the Bible Era than he does today...
The Holy Spirit speaks to us by faith and not fear.
We have the indwelling Spirit of God inside us and He speaks more now that He did years ago , Jesus even said it is good for me to go because the Holy Spirit will comeand have relationship with you.
The Holy Spirit lives inside us and speaks to us...
Nevertheless I tell you the truth. It is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you… Verse 13. but whatever He hears He will speak to you...
God speaks to His people.
3.God speaks to friends.
God wants to be your friend.
He created people with free will and the ability to hear and speak.
God’s desire is to walk and talk with us in the cool of the day. Like He did with Adam and Eve
God wants to be our friend even when we don’t act the way we should.
So the Lord spoke to Moses face to face, as a man speaks to his friend.
God doesn’t change....
And the Scripture was fulfilled which says, “Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness.” And he was called the friend of God.
God wants to be our friend even when we don’t act the way we should.
And one will say to him, ‘What are these wounds between your arms?’ Then he will answer, ‘Those with which I was wounded in the house of my friends.’
Now His betrayer had given them a sign, saying, “Whomever I kiss, He is the One; seize Him.” 49 Immediately he went up to Jesus and said, “Greetings, Rabbi!” and kissed Him. 50 But Jesus said to him, “Friend, why have you come?” Then they came and laid hands on Jesus and took Him.
50 But Jesus said to him, “Friend, why have you come?”
Even when we don’t act right God is still our friend
Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends.
Then they came and laid hands on Jesus and took Him.
God loves you so much to lay down His life for you and most of all He desires to speak with you...
