What does Generosity Demand?

Luke 21:3–4 NASB95
And He said, “Truly I say to you, this poor widow put in more than all of them; for they all out of their surplus put into the offering; but she out of her poverty put in all that she had to live on.”
Luke 2

FAITH

Faith that God will provide for you if you act generously towards others.
Faith that whatever sacrifice you make will bring about the furtherance of God’s Kingdom

OBEDIENCE

When God leads, we MUST follow!
When God leads, we MUST follow!
Answering His call is always easier than disobedience.

HUMILITY

It involves a willingness to put others ahead of yourself.
It requires a lack of entitlement.

What does Generosity Produce?

A Correct Relationship to THINGS

1 Corinthians 4:2 NASB95
In this case, moreover, it is required of stewards that one be found trustworthy.
Too many times the things we own, end up owning us.
The most amazing temporal things you possess cannot compare with the eternal weight of His glory.
We must be careful that our faith and dependence is placed upon God and not those things we possess.

A Correct Perspective of PEOPLE

Philippians 2:3 NASB95
Do nothing from selfishness or empty conceit, but with humility of mind regard one another as more important than yourselves;
Everyone on earth is someone for whom Christ willingly died.
What would you do so that ONE person would come to know Him?
Matthew 6:19 NASB95
“Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal.

What does Generosity Communicate about the Gospel?

It tells the world that Jesus is worth LIVING for!

It tells the world that they are worth your TREASURES!

It tells the world that God can make a DIFFERENCE in a person’s life.
