Gods Plan B

Romans 5:12–14 The Message
You know the story of how Adam landed us in the dilemma we’re in—first sin, then death, and no one exempt from either sin or death. That sin disturbed relations with God in everything and everyone, but the extent of the disturbance was not clear until God spelled it out in detail to Moses. So death, this huge abyss separating us from God, dominated the landscape from Adam to Moses. Even those who didn’t sin precisely as Adam did by disobeying a specific command of God still had to experience this termination of life, this separation from God. But Adam, who got us into this, also points ahead to the One who will get us out of it.
Have you ever put yourself in a situation where you knew there was no way out?
You knew you made a big mistake and there is no way of hiding it?
This mistake was going to get you in serious trouble.
There was no way of changing what you did.
There was no way of going back and making it right.
The only option was to face the consequences of your decision.
I remember back to my 11th grade year.
My friend was in a gang and they were planning a drive by shooting.
He was unaware that day that it was going down.
He was in the back seat and when they told him it was happening that day he panicked.
He said he was screaming in the back seat to let him out
He begged them to stop the car and let him out.
Well they did not let him out.
He ended up doing years in prison for a situation that he did not want to be apart of.
That is like you and I today.
We were born into a situation that we did not ask to be in
From the moment of birth we are given a death sentence
Psalm 51:5 KJV 1900
Behold, I was shapen in iniquity; And in sin did my mother conceive me.
We are born into sin
We did not ask for it
We did not make a decision and now we have to live with the consequence of our decision.
We dont even know how we
It is just the way it is for each and everyone of us here today.
If we don’t make a decision at some point in our life we will continue down a path that ultimately will make our eternal reservation in hell.
We at some point in our life have to make up in our mind that we don’t want to live a life of sin.
A life that only has one eternal destination
So, when we make the decision to change our eternal destination what is the next steps?
What do we do?
Who do we turn to?
How do we maker our eternal destination heaven?
Well if there wasn't another plan we would never have a chance at heaven
But we serve a God that loves us more than we love ourselves
And he has provided us a plan B
Romans 5:15–17 The Message
Yet the rescuing gift is not exactly parallel to the death-dealing sin. If one man’s sin put crowds of people at the dead-end abyss of separation from God, just think what God’s gift poured through one man, Jesus Christ, will do! There’s no comparison between that death-dealing sin and this generous, life-giving gift. The verdict on that one sin was the death sentence; the verdict on the many sins that followed was this wonderful life sentence. If death got the upper hand through one man’s wrongdoing, can you imagine the breathtaking recovery life makes, sovereign life, in those who grasp with both hands this wildly extravagant life-gift, this grand setting-everything-right, that the one man Jesus Christ provides?
Romans 5:
Jesus has provided us a wonderful Plan B
If He did not go to the cross, we do not get a plan B
By the cross we come alive
By the Cross there is a plan B
With out the cross we
By the cross we get a second chance
By the cross we are redeemed
By the cross our sins are forgivin
By the cross He paid the ultimate price
So, what happened on the cross?
Why was the cross so important?
It was on the cross the Jesus paid our debt in full
It was there that a innocent man shed his blood so that we would get a plan B
It was that day that Jesus prayed “father if this cup can pass” never the less not my will but thy will be done
That day Jesus laid aside his on plan,
He laid aside his own thoughts,
He put aside his own will,
He knew the only way for us to have a plan b was to take the sin of the world upon his shoulders
He took the sin of the past,
The sin of the present and
The sin of the future upon him
And that day on the cross he gave us a plan b
By the cross we come alive
Because one man lived a perfect life He was able to pay all our debt on the cross that day and we now have a chance to live a free life
On the cross that day Jesus offered us a free gift and Grace
When you read the passage in the Kings James version, Paul mentions free gift and grace 8 times in verses 15-17 and twice in verses 20-21
What the apostle Paul is trying to get us to realize is that when Jesus was giving us a plan B for our lives it was a free gift.
We know gifts are not earned.
If we earned it it would be wages
But it is a gift, we do not earn it.
Jesus freely gives it
Paul also makes it very clear that Jesus offers grace.
We know that the dictionary says grace is the unmerited favor of God
But what does the really mean?
It means we get what we don’t deserve
There is no one in this place that deserves Gods plan B
We could never be good enough for it
We could never pray long enough for it
We could never fast enough days that would make us worthy of it
It is only because Jesus Christ loves us so much that he gives us this gift along with grace.
John 15:13–14 KJV 1900
Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends. Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you.
Jesus Christ has shown us the greatest love when he laid down his life on the cross for us.
John 15:13-
He has nothing else to prove today.
That was the ultimate display of love
And by the cross we are alive
But we see in verse 14 of John he calls us friend
Then he makes a bold statement when he says you are my friend if you do whatsoever i command you.
He makes if clear to us that its one thing to call Him a friend but it is another thing to live like we are His friend.
What could Jesus possibly ask or command out of us that we would prove we are His friend?
Romans 12:2 KJV 1900
And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
Ephesians 4:32 KJV 1900
And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you.
John 13:34 KJV 1900
A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another.
John
Acts 2:38 KJV 1900
Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
