Welcome & Greeting
On behalf of the family, I welcome you all hear today.
We gather to celebrate the life and legacy of Francis Veatch.
We are going to hear the Word of God proclaimed through scripture and through song, we are going to share some memories and view some memories.
We will be able to leave here with our hope fully seated in Jesus Christ our savior.
Would you Pray with me
Dear Lord,
as Jesus followers asked him to help their friends,
so I ask you today to help my friends
struggling in the darkness of grief.
May they know moments of peace in their pain,
moments of joy in their memories,
and moments of hope in your love.
Amen.
Dear Lord,
as Jesus followers asked him to help their friends,
so I ask you today to help us here today.
Especially my brothers and sisters who may be struggling in the darkness of grief.
May they know moments of peace in their pain, moments of joy in their memories,
and moments of hope in your love.
In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
Amen.

Homily
I never got the chance to Know Frances.
I mean to truly know her.
I met her, but it wasn’t really the same
She didn’t say much, but the w
I got to truly meet Frances through you and your stories.
I got to know the woman of deep convictions
A woman who you knew was always praying for you
A woman who devoted years to serving the young people in her church by leading youth and teaching Sunday school to the little ones
She had such a commitment to teaching the next generation that she didn’t even let having a baby get in the way… Bringing baby Ron with her and putting him in the play pen so that She could teach her Sunday School class
She had a deep devotional life filled with her bible, and as always, Come Ye Apart
I got to know the definition of help mate
as a wife, Frances was always there with Millard
She would sit in the car while MIllard was out in the field just in case something happened
She knew that as soon as she left He would need something
She also kept Millard on track
If he ever got a little dicey on his language she would make sure he knew he needed to “Quit your cussin”
Up until Millard passed, he and Francis never spent a night apart.
I got to know the craftwoman
crocheting afgahns and hanger covers.... oh so many hanger covers
Possibly while she was there waiting for Millard to finish his work
I got to know the steadfastness of a mother who was a rock to her family
I got to know Francis
Frances was a calm and steady force
A great compliment to Millard.
To the extent that could be said of the character that He was… She was the mellow one
Where dad may light off, mom was there to listen and talk some common sense
She made sure the house was put together, there was food on the table
She was the definition of stability in the home
She could be counted on no matter what
She was welcoming and warm
In-laws never felt anything but love from Francis.
She wasn’t a mother in law or a grandmother in law… she was always family
I got to know the loving grandmother and great grandmother
The woman who was always filled with so much Joy to see her family
The woman who would send out birthday and anniversary cards remembering each one and showing her love through the way she cared to reach out and show how she thought of you
I got to know the real Frances by being introduced to her through you
As I was praying about today’s service I came across a verse that reminded me of Francis
God gave Frances a spirit that was rooted in this truth
She was steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord
The seeds that she planted and watered and prayed for and watched grow and continued to pray for… were not in vain
I see the prayers of Frances alive and active in this room
Generations have been changed and transformed because of Francis and the faithful consistent work that she did day by day.
She lived in the unshakable kingdom of God, seeking to honor him in her relationships, with her time, with her talents, and with her treasures.
Because of this we can say, as Paul says in this passage
Death where is your sting.
Because Francis had been given the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ
Even before she took her last breath on this side and breathed her first with Jesus
She was living in such a way that brought the loving kindness of Jesus into the lives of everyone that she met
Frances faithfully responded to the Grace of God for over 101 years
She has recieved her reward and heard Jesus telling her Well done my good and faithful servant
We may grieve on this side, but we do not grieve as those without hope
We rejoice in knowing that she ran her race well
To the family I want to say
Frances loved you
Even if you didn’t hear her say it often she lived it
In the way she cared and commented on how handsome or beautiful you looked
In the way she asked about what was new
In the way she called to check in or just to talk
She showed she loved you in every birthday card, in every anniversary card
In every Hug and every smile
Don’t ever forget how much she loved you!
Know you have to continue to live out the love that she showed
Live it in the same loving kindness that Francis lived out
