Wherefore henceforth know we no man after the flesh: yea, though we have known Christ after the flesh, yet now henceforth know we him no more.

Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

Whatever we knew about the man before he met christ is so different than after the man he met christ we could not say any longer that we know him.

One time a man walked into an antique shop and he said what's new they threw him out

When you get saved you become a new person a new creature.

I remember learning about that verse before I got saved and I did not want to get saved specifically because I was scared of the person I would become.

I knew about getting a new name and was scared.

That is funny but the fact is when we get saved we become a new creature.

That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts;

And be renewed in the spirit of your mind;

And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.

We talk about this verse a lot in church

But what does that mean?

What does that look like practically speaking?

When the Holy Spirit comes into you and joins with your spirit the spiritual part of you becomes born again and now you can communicate with the Lord were before you could not.

But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.

Incremental change

Php_2:13 For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.

We are looking at an old testament example in the life of Saul of when the spirit of the Lord came upon him.

We have the spirit of God in a way that they did not

Joh_7:39 (But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet given; because that Jesus was not yet glorified.)

David said remove not thy holy spirit from me

But my mercy shall not depart away from him, as I took it from Saul, whom I put away before thee.

We have a promise that we are sealed unto the day of redemption

But we still have to be filled

We still have to walk in the spirit we have to listen we have to be empowered by the spirit

And we have to ask for that and allow that to be accomplished in us we have to let the holy spirit take over more and more of us.

Saul started off well he was the Lords choice but he did end well because instead of yielding to the spirit he yielded to another spirit.

But the Spirit of the LORD departed from Saul, and an evil spirit from the LORD troubled him.

At the end of his life he allowed another spirit to take over javelin and the witch

We can do that as well like Peter and like Annanias we do not lose the spirit but we cease to be affected by the spirit.

So what does it mean to become a new creature, a new man ?

A New Man with a new Identity

And the Spirit of the LORD will come upon thee, and thou shalt prophesy with them, and shalt be turned into another man.

When the spirit comes on a man he is turned into another man

God does not just remodel you he completely changes you.

You see he begins to prophecy

The mark of a man that is filled with the spirit is boldness to speak the words of God.

Day of Pentecost speak as the spirit gave them utterance and all those people got saved that day.

Act_4:31 And when they had prayed, the place was shaken where they were assembled together; and they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and they spake the word of God with boldness.

With us he begins a good work and he never stops he begins to will and do of his good pleasure

Up to this point saul was not spiritual

Look at

And he passed through mount Ephraim, and passed through the land of Shalisha, but they found them not: then they passed through the land of Shalim, and there they were not: and he passed through the land of the Benjamites, but they found them not.

And when they were come to the land of Zuph, Saul said to his servant that was with him, Come, and let us return; lest my father leave caring for the asses, and take thought for us.

And he said unto him, Behold now, there is in this city a man of God, and he is an honourable man; all that he saith cometh surely to pass: now let us go thither; peradventure he can shew us our way that we should go.

Then said Saul to his servant, But, behold, if we go, what shall we bring the man? for the bread is spent in our vessels, and there is not a present to bring to the man of God: what have we?

He was tall he was handsome

And he had a son, whose name was Saul, a choice young man, and a goodly: and there was not among the children of Israel a goodlier person than he: from his shoulders and upward he was higher than any of the people.

I would imagine him

Like elab or absolom people in those days looked with great admiration at him.

But he did not know about the spiritual things happening around him, he did not know about the prophet in the area

His solution when he could not accomplish something was just give up.

He was not wondering What God was doing and God was doing something and he was totally oblivious of it.

But now that he has the spirit of God

He is interested in spiritual things

Lost people are not interested in spiritual things

When it comes time to pray they vacate

When spiritual conversation comes up, they change the subject.

Listen if that is you and that is us we have a problem we are not yielding to the spirit of God

This was a new man

If you are not a new person something is wrong

Today there is a version of christianity propagated and accepted that brings no change.

No longer is change preached but tolerance and acceptance the Lord does not intend for you to stay the same as you were before his spirit came into you and saved you.

Three common things new christians struggle with

Listen let me talk to the new christians here

You try to hang on to your old identity.

Have a big hangup in how they are viewed.

Look with me

And when he had made an end of prophesying, he came to the high place.

And Saul's uncle said unto him and to his servant, Whither went ye? And he said, To seek the asses: and when we saw that they were no where, we came to Samuel.

And Saul's uncle said, Tell me, I pray thee, what Samuel said unto you.

And Saul said unto his uncle, He told us plainly that the asses were found. But of the matter of the kingdom, whereof Samuel spake, he told him not.

He did not want his uncle to look at him differently

So He did not tell him about the spirit of God

He did not tell him about the anointing

The being set apart by God the prophets the prophesying.

You are going to struggle with how they view me just remember you are a new creature and you will be viewed in a new light and do not give into the temptation to hide what God has done for you from your family.

Just because I am saved doesn't mean I am not cool anymore.

You are a new creature you are not the same

The old you he is dead he is gone.

They also struggle with their reputation

And when they came thither to the hill, behold, a company of prophets met him; and the Spirit of God came upon him, and he prophesied among them.

And it came to pass, when all that knew him beforetime saw that, behold, he prophesied among the prophets, then the people said one to another, What is this that is come unto the son of Kish? Is Saul also among the prophets?

And one of the same place answered and said, But who is their father? Therefore it became a proverb, Is Saul also among the prophets?

A man that was never disposed to spiritual things now among the prophets

Proverb was look who's talking now .

When a person that is not spiritual becomes spiritual Is saul among the prohits.

We would say he got religion. Look who is preaching now I never would have thought you of all people.

You see the change was so drastic they noticed

Now instead of being known for tall handsome fun saul he was known for prophesying

What has come over saul?

Who is his father his dad is kish he was not trained to do this this is weird.

It is the holy spirit that empowered him and his ancestry was irrelevant.

Amo_7:14 Then answered Amos, and said to Amaziah, I was no prophet, neither was I a prophet's son; but I was an herdman, and a gatherer of sycomore fruit:

Young christians struggle with their reputation how people view them

I am going to show them you can be a chritian and still be cool

You can still have fun

They are not new.

You will never appear the same to other people you are a new creature

Now he is the example all his drinking buddies get you going to end up like saul pretty soon you just going to leave us because that is more important to you than we are. I feel betrayed.

Look do not struggle with that

Just face it you are new and jesus was not lying when he said the world will hate you.

New Heart

And it was so, that when he had turned his back to go from Samuel, God gave him another heart: and all those signs came to pass that day.

God has not left us powerless to transform ourselves.

He does not say you get your act together or I'm going to get really mad. He says I want you to be a different man oh, I want you to be a different woman. and if you open your hearts I will be the power that you need that changes you into that person.

Eze_36:26 A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh.

Delight thyself also in the LORD; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.

Allow him to do that

Be turned into another man it does not happen all at once.

New man , new identity , new people, new heart new reputation

A new man with a New Opportunity

And the Spirit of the LORD will come upon thee, and thou shalt prophesy with them, and shalt be turned into another man.

And let it be, when these signs are come unto thee, that thou do as occasion serve thee; for God is with thee.

After these things happen, do whatever you think is right! God will help you.

Now what he is saying is you will have new occasions new opportunities to serve the Lord

That you did not have before

Now that you have the spirit of god you will find opportunity to serve the Lord.

But you must take advantage of those opportunities.

Before without the spirit of God ou did not have the opportunity

I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.

And, behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high.

The only way a spiritual work is going to be done is through the spirit of God.

IF you have the spirit of God you can prophesy

Means to tell forth proclaim spiritual truth.

You can now see people helped

You can see people grow

You can now be a testimony to those folks who used to know you

You will find new opportunities with new people

Saul did not even know were they were before let alone being among them.

Lose weight buy new clothes go on new dates

New degree new employment opportunity

New opportunity

You will find an occasion and you should do that

You see opportunities you did not see before.

What can I do? I can hide and when he backslid he hid among the stuff.

But with the spirit of God you see opportunities everywhere you look.

The spirit of God shows you opportunities in your school.

I get a blessing out of the testimonies of the kids in elementary school and middle school and high school to serve the Lord.

At work in your neighborhood in the community.

Look unto the fields there are white already to harvest

But it takes the spirit of God to show you those opportunities.

Once a jewish lady came in with a little baby that was born premature they could not keep them in the city for the risk so she was finding a place to hide her when a pastor walked in to get a watch repaired she took him upstairs. Asked him if he would hide her because his house was in the country set back from the road and he had a barn and plenty of places she could hide. He said now you could loose your Life I hope you and your family are not involved in this business of hiding jews

She went got the baby and brought it and showed it to him and he looked at it the baby grabbed his fingers and it looked as if for a second his heart would melt but he steped back said no it is tow dangerous you could lose your life and her dad was there he took the baby in his arms and he said it would be a privilege to lose your life for this baby one of God's chosen people.

He left the lady was taken to a house in the city and it was raided and she and her baby died.

He did not use the opportunity God gave him.

Are you making use of the opportunities or is it to much risk?

A new man with a New Challenge

And Samuel said to all the people, See ye him whom the LORD hath chosen, that there is none like him among all the people? And all the people shouted, and said, God save the king.

Then Samuel told the people the manner of the kingdom, and wrote it in a book, and laid it up before the LORD. And Samuel sent all the people away, every man to his house.

And Saul also went home to Gibeah; and there went with him a band of men, whose hearts God had touched.

But the children of Belial said, How shall this man save us? And they despised him, and brought him no presents. But he held his peace.

That is the spirit of rebellion sin of witchcraft

When God does something in your heart the devils crowd will rebellion against that

How it manifests is not giving.

When people have a problem with authority they also have a problem with giving that is how it manifests itself.

A rebellious son will not honor his father The Lord makes a big deal out of honor and respect.

A rebellious country man will not honor the king or police officer.

A rebellious wife will not honor her husband

Mat_13:57 And they were offended in him. But Jesus said unto them, A prophet is not without honour, save in his own country, and in his own house.

People will not give you the honor that is die when God does a work in your heart.

Cahllenge to do the right thing and be dissed because of it.

One thing they never tell you when you get saved is that there are just going to be some people against you.

There are going to be some people whose heart is with you

God touches their heart to help you and go with you

And there are some other people that are not going to be with you.

They will not help you

You never had trouble with the men of belial before this.

You will have new challenges with people because they have a different spirit

March to beat of a different drum.

A new man with New Odds

To morrow about this time I will send thee a man out of the land of Benjamin, and thou shalt anoint him to be captain over my people Israel, that he may save my people out of the hand of the Philistines: for I have looked upon my people, because their cry is come unto me.

Then Samuel took a vial of oil, and poured it upon his head, and kissed him, and said,

Is it not because the LORD hath anointed thee to be captain over his inheritance?

Saul knew Samule knew but the people did not know

This is how he reveals it

And Samuel called the people together unto the LORD to Mizpeh;

And said unto the children of Israel, Thus saith the LORD God of Israel, I brought up Israel out of Egypt, and delivered you out of the hand of the Egyptians, and out of the hand of all kingdoms, and of them that oppressed you:

And ye have this day rejected your God, who himself saved you out of all your adversities and your tribulations; and ye have said unto him, Nay, but set a king over us. Now therefore present yourselves before the LORD by your tribes, and by your thousands.

And when Samuel had caused all the tribes of Israel to come near, the tribe of Benjamin was taken.

When he had caused the tribe of Benjamin to come near by their families, the family of Matri was taken, and Saul the son of Kish was taken: and when they sought him, he could not be found.

Therefore they enquired of the LORD further, if the man should yet come thither. And the LORD answered, Behold, he hath hid himself among the stuff.

And they ran and fetched him thence: and when he stood among the people, he was higher than any of the people from his shoulders and upward.

And Samuel said to all the people, See ye him whom the LORD hath chosen, that there is none like him among all the people? And all the people shouted, and said, God save the king.

Why would he do that?

There is a call of God and if it is of God there will be a recognition of that call

But the principle is this

If God has called you he will make it clear to the people around you what he wants you to do.

Listen when you are a new man and you walk in the spirit you cannot fail.

And if you do fail you do it in his will and that is part of the plan.

The fact that I am not planning my own life

The steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD: and he delighteth in his way.

Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down: for the LORD upholdeth him with his hand.

I have been young, and now am old; yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread.

O LORD, I know that the way of man is not in himself: it is not in man that walketh to direct his steps.

I know my end it will be to be made like unto my saviour

What could be better than that.

I have a guarantee that Saul did not have and you have it to if you are saved.

It is not lift up to chance for me.

What could be better than that? I haven't father this directing my steps and he's concerned enough about my future to also influence what a million other people do to ensure the right outcome.

All I have to do is choose to stay in the spirit.

What have I become?

As we close I want you to ask yourself this is there an area in my life that I have not been allowing the spirit of God to make me into a new man?

Is there an area that I have resisted him and quench the spirit of God and not walked in the spirit?

I have become a new man with a new identity.

If you're here this morning and you struggle with the way people view you why don't you embrace your new identity because it's so much better than your old one. Be more concerned with how Jesus views you then how your family friends and community view you. Understand the world will hate you but God's people will love you embrace that.

I have become a new man with new opportunities are able to see the world through the eyes of the new man. Do you see occasion and opportunity all around you? Or are you still hiding and saying it's too much what can I do? I want to invite you to come out from behind the stuff and stand up for the Lord take advantage of the opportunity.

New challenge are you accepting the challenge or are you letting it discourage you? Be encouraged the challenge was not there before it is a sign of walking in the spirit.

New odds. When you see the future does it bring you fear or faith trust dependency on God an expectation of great things no. If the future is fearful we must start yielding to the spirit and walking in the spirit. We are a new man with new odds our future is sure safe and secure.

I love the king james Bible I believe it is perfect I believe the others are flawed

I want to spend more time more time reading it than reading about it living it than arguing about it. I do not have to defend my position. If you want to come if you do not want To I love you I really do.

I love the fact that when I read my bible I trust it

I do not understand it but I seek to understand it not to critique it

I do not believe that the modern translators have the ability to do a better job.

I do not want to be my own boss

They say different things and God is very accurate

They are dumbed down
