Theological Principle for
God’s people can return to Him and experience His presence, when His word is placed at the center of their character.
Discovering the Meaning
This will be the most
difficult
step.
It is your responsibility to discover God’s intended meaning in the
text.
It is not your job to create the meaning.
As God spoke to specific people, in a specific time, and with a specific purpose, He also spoke to all generations to come.
We must address God’s Word on
proper terms
.
Steps to Theological Principle
The principle should be reflected in the text.
The principle should be
timeless
and not tied to a specific situation.
The principle should not be
culturally
bound.
The principles should correspond to the teaching of the rest of Scripture.
The
principle
should be relevant to both the biblical and the contemporary audience.
Theological Principles
When er say, “The main point of this passage is...” We are in essence saying,
“Thus saith the Lord”
Your perspective of the Theological principle will shape the way you read, interpret, and teach God’s Word.
If you get the theological principle wrong, then you have handled God’s Word poorly.
Final Steps
God desires for you to discover the
eternal truths
of His word.
If you do not practice
Proper Bible study
, you
presume
upon the word of God!
When you properly study God’s Word, you will be strengthened in your
faith
and in your
witness
.
Is there anything else more
important?
