Even though Isreal was able to return to rebuild the temple in Jerusalem after 70 years
Jerusalem was still in terrible shape.

Now it happened in the month of Chislev, in the twentieth year, as I was in Susa the citadel, that Hanani, one of my brothers, came with certain men from Judah. And I asked them concerning the Jews who escaped, who had survived the exile, and concerning Jerusalem.

Nehemiah was a high official in the Persian court of King Artaxerxes I at the capital city of Susa, which lay 150 miles east of the Tigris River in what is now modern Iran. Nehemiah served as the king’s cupbearer (), which evidently put him in a position to speak to the king and request favors from him.

Nehemiah was 895 miles away - He has so many reasons to be disconnect from Jerusalem.
The captivity was before his time
He was younger / apart of a different generation
Even though he was still captive, he had a good job (it was dangerous)
Living in the capital city!
Traveling where ever the king would go

But everything I needed to Know about the Father is seen through His Son Nehemiah.
