Immiscible: Tools To Help Us Overcome
INTRODUCTION
ILL_ Sitting down my tools.
Can’t work without using the tools.
READ
PRAY
7 Tools Jesus Requests for Us
Joy (13)
Joy is not found in past or present situations.
Being in a foreign land is difficult.
Joy is found at home.
Where is your home.
For here we have no lasting city, but we seek the city that is to come. The joy of Jesus in us
Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, 2 looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.
Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, 3 for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness. 4 And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.
do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. 7 And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
“Jesus joy fulfilled in themselves”= the joy of Jesus gave the disciples joy.
These things I have spoken to you, that my joy may be in you, and that your joy may be full.
You will not find joy in the world
Beatitudes
“Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied.
“Blessed are you when others revile you and persecute you and utter all kinds of evil against you falsely on my account.
12 Rejoice and be glad, for your reward is great in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you.
Truth (14)
Word- God’s revelation of himself to us
verse 17- God’s Word is truth
Truth is the foundation- it does not change.
Protection (15)
Kept= protected from Satan.
What then shall we say to these things?
If God is for us, who can be against us?
The God of peace will soon crush Satan under your feet.
The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you.
Identity (16)
In Jesus- Don’t look at world for belonging
Identity is a big deal.
Who do you identify with?
News of those who identify with different races than they are.
We identify with Jesus because he has changed us to be like him.
We identify with Jesus because he sent his Spirit to be in us.
Sanctification (17)
Sanctification is growing more like Christ every day.
Studying God’s Word
And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.
For this is the will of God, your sanctification: that you abstain from sexual immorality; 4 that each one of you know how to control his own body in holiness and honor, 5 not in the passion of lust like the Gentiles who do not know God;
Purpose (18)
Same purpose as Jesus.
For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.”
For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”
Truly, I say to you, whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.
19 Again I say to you, if two of you agree on earth about anything they ask, it will be done for them by my Father in heaven.
20 For where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I among them.”
Sacrifice (19)
Jesus’ gift to us.
Consecrate= set aside for religious/divine purpose.
He set himself aside to be the sacrifice for our sin.
Our sanctification is only possible because of what Jesus did for us.
For if the blood of goats and bulls, and the sprinkling of defiled persons with the ashes of a heifer, sanctify for the purification of the flesh, 14 how much more will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without blemish to God, purify our conscience from dead works to serve the living God.
CONCLUSION
Are you using all your tools?
One we cannot live without.
Accepting the sacrifice.
