1 Now brothers, I want to clarify for you the gospel I proclaimed to you; you received it and have taken your stand on it.
2 You are also saved by it, if you hold to the message I proclaimed to you—unless you believed for no purpose.
3 For I passed on to you as most important what I also received: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures,
4 that He was buried, that He was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures,
5 and that He appeared to Cephas, then to the Twelve.
6 Then He appeared to over 500 brothers at one time; most of them are still alive, but some have fallen asleep.
7 Then He appeared to James, then to all the apostles.
8 Last of all, as to one abnormally born, He also appeared to me.
9 For I am the least of the apostles, unworthy to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God.
10 But by God’s grace I am what I am, and His grace toward me was not ineffective. However, I worked more than any of them, yet not I, but God’s grace that was with me.
11 Therefore, whether it is I or they, so we proclaim and so you have believed.
12 Now if Christ is proclaimed as raised from the dead, how can some of you say, “There is no resurrection of the dead”?
13 But if there is no resurrection of the dead, then Christ has not been raised;
14 and if Christ has not been raised, then our proclamation is without foundation, and so is your faith.
15 In addition, we are found to be false witnesses about God, because we have testified about God that He raised up Christ—whom He did not raise up if in fact the dead are not raised.
16 For if the dead are not raised, Christ has not been raised.
17 And if Christ has not been raised, your faith is worthless; you are still in your sins.
18 Therefore, those who have fallen asleep in Christ have also perished.
19 If we have put our hope in Christ for this life only, we should be pitied more than anyone.

Acts
32 When they heard about resurrection of the dead, some began to ridicule him. But others said, “We’d like to hear from you again about this.”
32 When they heard about resurrection of the dead, some began to ridicule him. But others said, “We’d like to hear from you again about this.”
So this attitude has invaded the church at Corinth and Paul faces it head-on.
So this attitude has invaded the church at Corinth and Paul faces it head-on.
It would be much the same today if we were to ask you as an individual
What do you believe about the resurrection of the dead?
What do you believe about the resurrection of the dead?
The answer to this question is key to our faith. Do you believe that those who trust in Jesus are in the presence of Jesus? What do you believe happens to loved ones that have passed on before you that trusted Jesus?
The Corinthians did believe in the resurrection of Jesus Christ but they did not believe in the resurrection of the dead.
Paul presents 3 proofs
Proof #1: Their own salvation
Proof #1: Their own salvation
1 Now brothers, I want to clarify for you the gospel I proclaimed to you; you received it and have taken your stand on it.
2 You are also saved by it, if you hold to the message I proclaimed to you—unless you believed for no purpose.
I want to clarify for you the gospel I proclaimed to you.
The word Gospel means good news. The good news is listed below in verse 3 that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures, was buried and was raised.
Jesus came to heal our brokenness and the punishment that we deserved, Jesus took.
Paul says to the church at Corinth I want to clarify this good news. He says this good news is true because you recieved it and you have taken your stand on it.
You are proof number one. You received this good news and you have taken your stand on this good news. There is so much power in the Gospel. Reflect for just a second on
What has the Gospel has done in your life?
What has the Gospel has done in your life?
In this room, their are so many radical life changes. You see before the Gospel in this room exist God haters, slanderers, addicts, full on rebellious hearts, drunks and partakers in sexual immorality just to name a few. When the good news of Jesus (the Gospel) me these people in this room, it all started to change. Only Gospel can take a drunk who roles over on a remote and turns on the Christian tv channel and through this begins to change a life. Only the Gospel can take a drunk sailer who had divorced his wife and make him a sober husband to remarry his wife.
It’s the Gospel that changes. It’s the good news of Jesus Christ that works to transform lives.
Paul reminds them that they have recieved this Gospel and it is this Gospel that they have taken their stand on.
The church at Corinth had recieved the Gospel been saved by it and taken their stand on it.
Unless you believed for no purpose.
Proof #2: The Old Testament Scriptures

1 Corinthians
I passed on to you as most important what I also received:
The Gospel is the most important message the church ever proclaims. In a world where the church is full of motivational messages that strive to better yourself. Paul says the message of the Gospel is the most important message. This message that Jesus died for our sins!!
That Christ died for our sins
The Bible Exposition Commentary Chapter Twelve: Be Wise about … the Resurrection (1 Corinthians 15)
Many people were crucified by the Romans, but only one “victim” ever died for the sins of the world.
Jesus who knew no sin died for our sins. Jesus was the perfect lamb of God that was sacrificed for the penalty for all our sin.
According to Scriptures
Paul is referring to Old Testament scriptures that point to the death of Jesus.
1 Who has believed what we have heard? And who has the arm of the Lord been revealed to?
2 He grew up before Him like a young plant and like a root out of dry ground. He didn’t have an impressive form or majesty that we should look at Him, no appearance that we should desire Him.
3 He was despised and rejected by men, a man of suffering who knew what sickness was. He was like someone people turned away from; He was despised, and we didn’t value Him.
4 Yet He Himself bore our sicknesses, and He carried our pains; but we in turn regarded Him stricken, struck down by God, and afflicted.
5 But He was pierced because of our transgressions, crushed because of our iniquities; punishment for our peace was on Him, and we are healed by His wounds.
6 We all went astray like sheep; we all have turned to our own way; and the Lord has punished Him for the iniquity of us all.
7 He was oppressed and afflicted, yet He did not open His mouth. Like a lamb led to the slaughter and like a sheep silent before her shearers, He did not open His mouth.
That he was buried, that he was raised
The fact that Jesus was buried is here mentioned and also mentioned in all four Gospels. This again backs up that Jesus died for our sins. They buried him.
The tomb or the grave was filled with the Body of Jesus
On the third day Jesus was raised
The tomb is empty
1 Corinthians: An Introduction and Commentary A. The Resurrection of Christ (15:1–11)
He was raised (egēgertai) is passive, which puts stress (as usually in the New Testament) on the activity of the Father in raising the Son (cf. v. 15). And it is perfect, which points to the permanent state; it ‘sets forth with the utmost possible emphasis the abiding results of the event’ (Prolegomena, p. 137). Christ continues in the character of the risen Lord. The perfect tense is used in this way six more times in this chapter (vv. 12, 13, 14, 16, 17, 20), and once only in all the rest of the New Testament.
According to scriptures
38 Then some of the scribes and Pharisees said to Him, “Teacher, we want to see a sign from You.”
39 But He answered them, “An evil and adulterous generation demands a sign, but no sign will be given to it except the sign of the prophet Jonah.
40 For as Jonah was in the belly of the huge fish three days and three nights, so the Son of Man will be in the heart of the earth three days and three nights.
41 The men of Nineveh will stand up at the judgment with this generation and condemn it, because they repented at Jonah’s proclamation; and look—something greater than Jonah is here!
Matthew 12:
Over 500 years the book of Jonah pointed to Jesus being buried and raised on the third day!

1 Corinthians
Ask for Adam come up
Tell Adam the rules that they have to abide by. I am going to give you something. You can’t show it to anyone else. After I give you this you have to go choose someone else and talk with them one on one and convince them that this is something that they should come up here for as well.
Alright so he convinced them to come up.
Imagine if we started this all over and in front of this whole group I took out a $1.00 and said here Adam go convince them to come up here and I will give them $1
It is so much easier for the person to come forward and get $1.00
Scripture tells us that he appeared to over 500 brothers at one time, most of them are still alive.
If only Adam knows for some reason it is a lot less believable but if everyone in the room knows then it is believable.
Notice it says this happened at one time. So it was not a group of people saying yes it happened to me to. This was all of them and most were still alive.
At the time of the writing of this letter, those who are reading it could go seek out those who are still alive and ask did Christ appear to you after he was raised.
Side note there is not to my knowledge in writings in history that deny this recording and writing here in Paul’s letter.
If this was not true there would have been a huge outcry against it. There was not because it is true that he was risen and did appear.
Paul says he appeared to me
9 For I am the least of the apostles, unworthy to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God.
10 But by God’s grace I am what I am, and His grace toward me was not ineffective. However, I worked more than any of them, yet not I, but God’s grace that was with me.
11 Therefore, whether it is I or they, so we proclaim and so you have believed.
1 Corinthians 15:9-
Paul was admittedly against Jesus. His goal was to stomp out the Gospel and he had letters to go take out the church and followers of Jesus.
1 Saul agreed with putting him to death. On that day a severe persecution broke out against the church in Jerusalem, and all except the apostles were scattered throughout the land of Judea and Samaria.
Paul was admittedly against Jesus. His goal was to stomp out the Gospel and he had letters to go take out the church or followers of Jesus.
1 Meanwhile, Saul was still breathing threats and murder against the disciples of the Lord. He went to the high priest
2 and requested letters from him to the synagogues in Damascus, so that if he found any men or women who belonged to the Way, he might bring them as prisoners to Jerusalem.
Acts 9:
3 As he traveled and was nearing Damascus, a light from heaven suddenly flashed around him.
4 Falling to the ground, he heard a voice saying to him, “Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting Me?”
5 “Who are You, Lord?” he said. “I am Jesus, the One you are persecuting,” He replied.
6 “But get up and go into the city, and you will be told what you must do.”
7 The men who were traveling with him stood speechless, hearing the sound but seeing no one.
8 Then Saul got up from the ground, and though his eyes were open, he could see nothing. So they took him by the hand and led him into Damascus.
9 He was unable to see for three days and did not eat or drink.
Acts 9:3-
17 So Ananias left and entered the house. Then he placed his hands on him and said, “Brother Saul, the Lord Jesus, who appeared to you on the road you were traveling, has sent me so that you can regain your sight and be filled with the Holy Spirit.”
18 At once something like scales fell from his eyes, and he regained his sight. Then he got up and was baptized.
Acts 9:17-
12 Now if Christ is proclaimed as raised from the dead, how can some of you say, “There is no resurrection of the dead”?
