Jeremiah 18:1–4 NKJV

1 The word which came to Jeremiah from the Lord, saying: 2 “Arise and go down to the potter’s house, and there I will cause you to hear My words.” 3 Then I went down to the potter’s house, and there he was, making something at the wheel. 4 And the vessel that he made of clay was marred in the hand of the potter; so he made it again into another vessel, as it seemed good to the potter to make.

The Anchor Yale Bible Dictionary Potter’s Wheel

Pottery was made and used throughout the ancient world. Special wheels for fashioning pottery came into use at an early period, and were used throughout Palestine and neighboring areas. The Hebrew word designating a potter’s wheel, ʾobnāyim, occurs only once in the OT (Jer 18:3). The word’s literal meaning, “pair of stones,” is indicative of the configuration of the device itself.

From the MB I period (ca. 2000 B.C.) onward, pottery in Palestine was generally “thrown” on a fast wheel; i.e., it was made on a wheel spinning fast enough so that the centrifugal force formed the vessel, with the potter merely guiding the clay with his hands to attain the desired shape. Prior to the MB I period, pottery vessels were formed on a simple tournette. The Hebrew name for the potter’s wheel may derive from the fact that the earliest potter’s wheel, the tournette,

11 “Now therefore, speak to the men of Judah and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem, saying, ‘Thus says the Lord: “Behold, I am fashioning a disaster and devising a plan against you. Return now every one from his evil way, and make your ways and your doings good.” ’ ”

“Wait! is about creating something good. is about something that is.”

Context: It’s a word picture of Israel being in God’s hand. They’ve sought other gods when they were in the hands of everyone they needed.

no weapon formed implies that someone outside of your being is crafting something to take you down. It doesn’t mean that you haven’t made an instrument that you’ll hurt yourself with!!!

Could the problem be that you haven’t heard what He said talk to and instead we’re talking to what will never hear us because He’s the One that’s responsible for giving things ears!

jer 18.2 “I will cause you to hear my words.”

In Creation we see Him creating. Don’t know what He about to make show up. In Potter’s house, Hwe get to watch Him make something.

What can be made in a potters house.

Observation: Both processes have the end goal of creating something. Sometimes I need to go trhough the process. And it’s through the breaking, slamming, shapping that God uses to along the way. You can’t make a home cake quickly!!!! You can taste the difference!

Woman was sick and she’s ring the bell. She got better and was Continuing to progress but she got lazy and became dependent upon people responding when she rang the bell.

After Time went by her weight gain was considerable and noticeable. Because her muscles begin to atrophy, she was not using her body the way it was designed to be used.

Point: some stuff God gives you because you don’t have the ability to get it. Other things got put you in process to build your stamina.
