Title: “Our Blessed Duty”
Subject: Loyalty
Proposition:
Date: November 10, 2019
Event: Sunday Worship Service
Introduction:
Early in this chapter 26 of the Book of Matthew we hear about Bethany. Some special things took place in Bethany. This is the place where He was anointed with the pricey oil of the Alabaster Box that caused an uproar in his own camp. It’s no wonder then that we are informed that there was a special relationship in which He took great comfort. This relationship was shared between Jesus, Martha, Mary and Lazarus. So he visited Bethany frequently. Why did He visit regularly? We know because scriptures says He loved them deeply… It was because they were:
Firstly, Lovers of Him
Hospitable to Him
Honored him
Loyal to him
Loyalty was a major subject matter to Jesus notice what He said about impending disloyalty in
And as they did eat, he said, Verily I say unto you, that one of you shall betray me.”
In the corporate world there is a thing called the Duty of Loyalty. Business Schools and Law Schools across the globe teach on this principle.
II. The Duty of Loyalty Components
Duty of loyalty means that those who make decisions for the company do so keeping the company's best interest first.
This means directors or other decision makers need to remain loyal to the company and avoid personal gain at the expense of the company. An example might be if Victor hears information about his company that will result in the price of stocks plummeting. To protect himself, he sells his shares before the information is provided to the public. This would be a violation of his duty of loyalty because he put himself before the company.

II. The Duty of Loyalty Components

There are three main components of duty of loyalty. These components help ensure the safety of the company and keep employees in line.

1. Avoid using corporate opportunities for your own personal gain.

2. Avoid making business agreements without approval from the employer.

3. Avoid jeopardizing the company's confidential information.

Basically what is seeking to be avoided and prevented is:
division in the house;
division in ranks;
division in the Vision.
The bible says that God hates the one who sows discord among the brethren - that’s division in the house. Because He knows its origin. You see
Loyalty is of great importance to God the Father because it was disloyalty that created the fracture in heaven.
Pride is what caused the great divide in the house of Heaven
Loyalty is of great importance to God the Father because it was disloyalty that created the fracture in heaven
Frankly, if you want God’s blessing to rest upon your life you can’t invest yourself in that which He despises. You must have a loyal spirit. Just as we can have an excellent spirit, we too can have a loyal spirit.
In fact, Jesus pronounces that betrayal had entered the camp way back in the second verse of the same chapter. He said, “Ye know that after two days is the feast of the Passover, and the Son of man is betrayed to be crucified.”()
Why? Because God is seeking to work out a greater work in the lives of those who love Him.
Early mention:
Except to hold on to what you have until I come. To the one who is victorious and does my will to the end, I will give authority over the nations.
III. The Apostle Paul on Loyalty
“Do thy diligence to come shortly unto me: For Demas hath forsaken me, having loved this present world.”
Some of the final words written by the Apostle Paul under divine inspiration dealt with the subject of loyalty and particularly the loyalty or disloyalty of certain preachers to himself. Second Timothy chapter four speaks of Demas as having forsaken Paul, of Luke as remaining with him in his last days, and of the fact that at his trial, “No man stood with me, but all men forsook me.” With sadness, later in chapter one, Paul says, “This thou knowest, that all they which are in Asia be turned away from me.”
With sadness, later in chapter one, Paul says, “This thou knowest, that all they which are in Asia be turned away from me.”
Their misdeed was turning away from Paul. In the following verses he commends Onesiphorus for coming to him in his prison cell, and for not being, “Ashamed of my chain.” He prays that the Lord will, “grant unto him that he may find mercy of the Lord in that day,” as a reward for staying loyal to Paul. The chapter concludes with the apostle reminding Timothy (about Onesiphorus), “How many things he ministered unto me at Ephesus, thou knowest very well.”
Timothy is again reminded of the connection between his relationship with Paul and his relationship with the truth the apostle taught. “Continue thou in the things which thou hast learned and hast been assured of, knowing of whom thou hast learned them,” says .

David Was Loyal To Saul (1 Samuel 26)
Some have struggled with the concept of loyalty to the end that they question if they can meet the standard. They find basis to be disloyal and dishonor once the other leader turns on them, but David gives us a different choice. He demonstrates the capacity of humanity in the face of tremendous adversity.
Then David answered, and said to Ahimelech the Hittite and to Abishai the son of Zeruiah, brother of Joab, saying, “Who will go down with me to Saul in the camp?”
And Abishai said, “I will go down with you.”
So David and Abishai came to the people by night; and there Saul lay sleeping within the camp, with his spear stuck in the ground by his head. And Abner and the people lay all around him. Then Abishai said to David, “God has delivered your enemy into your hand this day. Now therefore, please, let me strike him [a]at once with the spear, right to the earth; and I will not have to strike him a second time!”
But David said to Abishai, “Do not destroy him; for who can stretch out his hand against the Lord’s anointed, and be guiltless?” 10 David said furthermore, “As the Lord lives, the Lord shall strike him, or his day shall come to die, or he shall go out to battle and perish. 11 The Lord forbid that I should stretch out my hand against the Lord’s anointed. But please, take now the spear and the jug of water that are by his head, and let us go.” 12 So David took the spear and the jug of water by Saul’s head, and they got away; and no man saw or knew it or awoke. For they were all asleep, because a deep sleep from the Lord had fallen on them.
Key Point: Loyalty remains even in adversity.
Since he doesn’t have any root, he lasts only a little while. When suffering or persecution comes along because of the word, he immediately falls [from faith].
They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would no doubt have continued with us: but they went out, that they might be made manifest that they were not all of us.
He who pursues righteousness and loyalty Finds life, righteousness and honor.
R Who will separate us from the Messiah’s love? Can trouble, distress, persecution, hunger, nakedness, danger, or a violent death do this? As it is written, “For your sake we are being put to death all day long. We are thought of as sheep headed for slaughter.” In all these things we are triumphantly victorious due to the one who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor rulers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor anything above, nor anything below, nor anything else in all creation can separate us from the love of God that is ours in union with the Messiah Jesus, our Lord.
If we are unfaithful, he remains faithful, for he cannot deny who he is.
Key Point: Loyalty is not a word it’s a lifestyle.
There’s something wrong with your character if opportunity controls your loyalty.
Key Point: Loyalty is more than words. True loyalty will result in actions.
But Peter told him, “Even if everyone else turns against you, I certainly won’t!” Jesus told him, “I tell you with certainty, before a rooster crows this very night, you will deny me three times.” Peter told him, “Even if I have to die with you, I will never deny you!” And all the disciples said the same thing.
Many will say they are loyal friends, but who can find one who is truly reliable?
