Bringing our needs to Jesus (v.46-47)
Official’s son
Emily Nash- #God is stronger
Needing a sign (v.48)
miracle vs. sign
Jesus rebuking the people or just pointing out our need for a sign?
Example of wanting a miracle: wanting a magic trick, a free meal, a show, or a blessing with no intent of learning from the display of power. Maybe loving the miracle instead of the miracle worker.
Example of needing a sign: if I said, I am a genie and I can grant you three wishes.
Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.
Thomas needed a sign and Jesus gave him one
Jesus said to him, “Have you believed because you have seen me? Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.”
Purpose of the Signs and wonders
Now Jesus did many other signs in the presence of the disciples, which are not written in this book; but these are written so that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name.
Taking Jesus at His Word (vv.49-50)
The official believed the word that Jesus spoke to him and went on his way.
Trusting that #God is stronger in the midst of the trial
Emily update from Nate:
Hey friends, tough day today. Emily has continued to decline since our last update. She has lost more strength and mobility. She can't use her legs or sit up in a wheelchair, and its becoming hard for her to chew hard food. Mentally she's slowed down and become confused at times. But she generally still knows what's going on and who everyone is.
After talking to her doctors in Chicago it was decided to end treatments and start hospice care. This is obviously tough for everyone, but it's the best option for Emily to be comfortable as long as possible. We're thankful she's not in any pain.
Emily is in a really good place with her faith in Christ. She has placed her full faith and confidence in Jesus for the forgiveness of her sins, salvation, and the promise of eternal life. She's looking forward to having her body back and not having to deal with this disease anymore. Through this whole journey she wanted to impact others for Christ. She said, if one person became a Christian because of my testimony, it would be worth it all.
We want to thank everyone for all their prayers and support. Keep praying for us as we complete this journey together. God has been good and faithful to us. We still believe God is stronger. He is stronger than the grave, when he rose again, and promises the same for all who place their faith in Him.
Emily would love to hear from you. It's hard for her to talk on the phone, but feel free to text or message her on Facebook. Someone will read them to her and hopefully help transcribe a message back. If you want to visit, check with me first.

Bronze Serpent
And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, so must the Son of Man be lifted up,
Sign of Jonah
Christ gave the sign proving His victory over death and the grave in the sign of Jonah. He promised and announced that He would rise from the grave on the third day and He did!
God is Stronger
Nate: "Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of His saints."
Emily passed into the loving embrace of her Lord and Savior at 5:38pm. Her faith became sight as she finished the race marked out for her. She was a bright light that reflected the true light of Christ to everyone around her. Our family is saddened and heartbroken. But we are thankful her suffering has come to an end, as God makes her new. We cling to the promises of Christ, just as Emily did. Jesus said, “I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live, and everyone who lives and believes in me shall never die" (). Indeed God is stronger than the grave!
Thank you all for your prayers, support, and love. #GodisStronger

For as the Father raises the dead and gives them life, so also the Son gives life to whom he will.
Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life. He does not come into judgment, but has passed from death to life.
