God’s Provision of Grace
God’s Provision of Grace
5 Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think any thing as of ourselves; but our sufficiency is of God;
13 I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.
Access To God’s Grace
Access To God’s Grace
5 Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;
6 Which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour;
8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.
1 And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins;
2 Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience:
3 Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others.
21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.
22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?
23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.
24 Strive to enter in at the strait gate: for many, I say unto you, will seek to enter in, and shall not be able.
25 When once the master of the house is risen up, and hath shut to the door, and ye begin to stand without, and to knock at the door, saying, Lord, Lord, open unto us; and he shall answer and say unto you, I know you not whence ye are:
26 Then shall ye begin to say, We have eaten and drunk in thy presence, and thou hast taught in our streets.
27 But he shall say, I tell you, I know you not whence ye are; depart from me, all ye workers of iniquity.
28 There shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth, when ye shall see Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, and all the prophets, in the kingdom of God, and you yourselves thrust out.
Power to Overcome
Power to Overcome
10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.
12 Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall.
12 Both riches and honour come of thee, and thou reignest over all; and in thine hand is power and might; and in thine hand it is to make great, and to give strength unto all.
11 God hath spoken once; Twice have I heard this; That power belongeth unto God.
Ready Every Day
Ready Every Day
Paul tells us to “Put on” - this is not a one time thing, but something that is doing daily!
8 So will I sing praise unto thy name for ever, That I may daily perform my vows.
34 Blessed is the man that heareth me, Watching daily at my gates, Waiting at the posts of my doors.
23 And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me.
Remember - the cross that we carry is not a burden - it is a method of execution
31 I protest by your rejoicing which I have in Christ Jesus our Lord, I die daily.
Joseph had to make the conscious decision to daily put on the armor and fight the good fight
10 And it came to pass, as she spake to Joseph day by day, that he hearkened not unto her, to lie by her, or to be with her.
Stand Your Ground
Stand Your Ground
11 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
to fight, to hold ones ground
27 Neither give place to the devil.
11 Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.
One way we do this is guarding our testimony
1 A good name is rather to be chosen than great riches, And loving favour rather than silver and gold.
11 He that loveth pureness of heart, For the grace of his lips the king shall be his friend.
1 A good name is better than precious ointment; and the day of death than the day of one’s birth.
2 Ye are our epistle written in our hearts, known and read of all men:
3 Forasmuch as ye are manifestly declared to be the epistle of Christ ministered by us, written not with ink, but with the Spirit of the living God; not in tables of stone, but in fleshy tables of the heart.
2 Ye are our epistle written in our hearts, known and read of all men:
We often ask is anyone going to be in heaven because of me....
Maybe sometimes we should ask, is anyone going to be in hell, because of me?
David’s sin causes God’s name to be tarnished toward the unbelievers
14 Howbeit, because by this deed thou hast given great occasion to the enemies of the Lord to blaspheme, the child also that is born unto thee shall surely die.
24 For the name of God is blasphemed among the Gentiles through you, as it is written.
Bill Rice illustration....
Teachers love to tell students when they have passed a test. but many of them dread telling their students when they have failed.
When those around us test our testimony, many times they will tell us when we pass, but I wonder how often that keep silent about the times that we fail, chalking it up to one more hypocritical christian and reason why they wont become a Christian.
Defend the Truth
Defend the Truth
3 Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common salvation, it was needful for me to write unto you, and exhort you that ye should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints.
17 For if I do this thing willingly, I have a reward: but if against my will, a dispensation of the gospel is committed unto me.
1 cor 8:17
25 Whereof I am made a minister, according to the dispensation of God which is given to me for you, to fulfil the word of God;
4 But as we were allowed of God to be put in trust with the gospel, even so we speak; not as pleasing men, but God, which trieth our hearts.

11 According to the glorious gospel of the blessed God, which was committed to my trust.

The Armor of God
The Armor of God
we are to put on the “whole armor of God” Every Day!
13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
Put on the Reliable Word
Put on the Reliable Word
14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;
it is said that the average person lies from 6 to 10 times a day
16 These are the things that ye shall do; Speak ye every man the truth to his neighbour; execute the judgment of truth and peace in your gates:
25 Wherefore putting away lying, speak every man truth with his neighbour: for we are members one of another.
Are we honest with ourselves?
Justifying our own sin
denying the consquences
Are we honest with God
it is said that more lying takes place during a song service than anywhere else
we makes promises to God at the alter with no real intention of keeping them
4 When thou vowest a vow unto God, defer not to pay it; for he hath no pleasure in fools: pay that which thou hast vowed.
5 Better is it that thou shouldest not vow, than that thou shouldest vow and not pay.
6 Suffer not thy mouth to cause thy flesh to sin; neither say thou before the angel, that it was an error: wherefore should God be angry at thy voice, and destroy the work of thine hands?
Are we honest to those around us?
16 These six things doth the Lord hate: Yea, seven are an abomination unto him:
17 A proud look, a lying tongue, And hands that shed innocent blood,
22 Lying lips are abomination to the Lord: But they that deal truly are his delight.
prov 6:16=17
1 A false balance is abomination to the Lord: But a just weight is his delight.
Put on a Righteous Walk
Put on a Righteous Walk
14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;
5 And righteousness shall be the girdle of his loins, And faithfulness the girdle of his reins.
we need a revival of righteousness
12 Sow to yourselves in righteousness, Reap in mercy; Break up your fallow ground: For it is time to seek the Lord, Till he come and rain righteousness upon you.
paul told the church in corinth
34 Awake to righteousness, and sin not; for some have not the knowledge of God: I speak this to your shame.
we excuse our lack of doing right because noone else is
its not about doing right on sunday, It is a lifestyle - a walk -
It is a fruit of the spirit!!!
11 Being filled with the fruits of righteousness, which are by Jesus Christ, unto the glory and praise of God.
the standard is not the world, or others. There is real danger when we fall into the trap of comparison!!!
The standard is Jesus Christ and HIs Word!
34 Righteousness exalteth a nation: But sin is a reproach to any people.
Gypsy Smith siad “If you want revival, go outside and draw a big circle on the ground. Then step inside and pray “Lord, revive everything else in this circle.”
There is a huge movement in Church Revitalization today. Trying to breath new life into dead churches. While this is a huge problem and churches deffinatly need new life, it will not happen until our hearts are revitalized.
We can inject passionate preaching, moving song services - start outreach ministries and give a church a semblance of life - But Revival starts in the hearts of each individual! As we put girt our loins with the truth of God’s Word and Character and we begin to walk a walk of righteousness, putting it on as a breastplate as a testimony of our desire to glorify God with our lives!
Put on a Ready Work
Put on a Ready Work
15 And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;
This speaks of two things, our preparation and our desire.
Coach Wooden Basketball coach - socks
we need to prepare with a good foundation!
10 The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.
10 For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost.
we have been given a job
19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:
20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.
what on your to-do list has anything to do with the Gospel?
The work of the Gospel - the desire to see people saved, baptised and disciples is what we should be about.
None of our worldly accomplishments will follow us to heaven, only those who we invested in with the gospel!
2 And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also.
we spoke this morning breifly about the command that christ gave to pray for laborers in the harvest
37 Then saith he unto his disciples, The harvest truly is plenteous, but the labourers are few;
38 Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth labourers into his harvest.
Matt 9:
The harvest is now, and the workers are still few. Few with the desire to reach out with the Gospel. Few with the drive to go out and witness, to go to the Jersualum’s, Samaria’s and the uttermost parts of the earth
There was once a man that used to tell me “When you pray, be willing to be part of the answer”
I have a spiritual
If we are going to pray for laborers, we should be busy in the field ourselves.
It is one thing passing a feild where a few people are out sweating and working trying to harvest the vegatibles and say, “That farmer needs to hire more help”. It is something completely different to park your car, get out in the field and help, praying for more to do the same!!!!”
Put on a Recognized Wealth
Put on a Recognized Wealth
17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:
dont let a single day go by without remember the grace that God has shown you
10 But by the grace of God I am what I am: and his grace which was bestowed upon me was not in vain; but I laboured more abundantly than they all: yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me.
the longer we are saved the easier it is to get used to it and decieve ourselves about our worthiness of chirst!
22 It is of the Lord’s mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not.
23 They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.
lam 3:22-
when we think of the riches that christ has bestowed upon us, we remembering that we are unworthy of the least of it, we can call out with Jeremiah “Great is thy faithfulness”!!!

Put on the Right Weapon
Put on the Right Weapon
17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:
We can’t outsmart, outmuscle, outrun our outshout satan , but we can out truth him!
17 Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.
9 BETH. Wherewithal shall a young man cleanse his way? By taking heed thereto according to thy word.
10 With my whole heart have I sought thee: O let me not wander from thy commandments.
11 Thy word have I hid in mine heart, That I might not sin against thee.
Psalm 119:
12 For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
28 The prophet that hath a dream, let him tell a dream; and he that hath my word, let him speak my word faithfully. What is the chaff to the wheat? saith the Lord.
29 Is not my word like as a fire? saith the Lord; and like a hammer that breaketh the rock in pieces?
