Philippians 1:29 ESV
For it has been granted to you that for the sake of Christ you should not only believe in him but also suffer for his sake,
;
Acts 14:22 ESV
strengthening the souls of the disciples, encouraging them to continue in the faith, and saying that through many tribulations we must enter the kingdom of God.
Psalm 91 ESV
He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will abide in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say to the Lord, “My refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.” For he will deliver you from the snare of the fowler and from the deadly pestilence. He will cover you with his pinions, and under his wings you will find refuge; his faithfulness is a shield and buckler. You will not fear the terror of the night, nor the arrow that flies by day, nor the pestilence that stalks in darkness, nor the destruction that wastes at noonday. A thousand may fall at your side, ten thousand at your right hand, but it will not come near you. You will only look with your eyes and see the recompense of the wicked. Because you have made the Lord your dwelling place— the Most High, who is my refuge— no evil shall be allowed to befall you, no plague come near your tent. For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways. On their hands they will bear you up, lest you strike your foot against a stone. You will tread on the lion and the adder; the young lion and the serpent you will trample underfoot. “Because he holds fast to me in love, I will deliver him; I will protect him, because he knows my name. When he calls to me, I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will rescue him and honor him. With long life I will satisfy him and show him my salvation.”

“at that time” over and over - but people miss it
what are they doing? Sleeping
where are they doing it? In the ground - “dust land”
The Immortality Plan
How to Gain Indestructible Life =The Life of the Age to Come ();
Immortality
2 Timothy 1:10 ESV
and which now has been manifested through the appearing of our Savior Christ Jesus, who abolished death and brought life and immortality to light through the gospel,
go back a verse to get context - do not be ashamed of testimony of our lord
lots of synomys
testimony includes all Jesus said and did including dieing on the cross

from the Seed
; ; )
Luke 8:11–12 ESV
Now the parable is this: The seed is the word of God. The ones along the path are those who have heard; then the devil comes and takes away the word from their hearts, so that they may not believe and be saved.
; )
1 Peter 1:23 ESV
since you have been born again, not of perishable seed but of imperishable, through the living and abiding word of God;
1 John 3:9 ESV
No one born of God makes a practice of sinning, for God’s seed abides in him; and he cannot keep on sinning, because he has been born of God.
Much more interesting playing a harp in the clouds
Your job
Rick Brundrett We are blessed in the U.S. because we have a constitutional protection of freedom of religion, so verses like , ; have been interpreted to mean things such as enduring sickness, loss of job, etc. . But persecution is a very real thing right now for many Christians worldwide.
Acts 28:
Acts 28:22 ESV
But we desire to hear from you what your views are, for with regard to this sect we know that everywhere it is spoken against.”
Trying to persuade them - morning to evening - argue with them patiently - keep at it
John 3:36 ESV
Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life; whoever does not obey the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God remains on him.

some didn’t agree
Paul didn’t stop there - let me tell you
Rightly spoke through Isaiah - keep on hearing but won’t understand
Acts 28:27 ESV
For this people’s heart has grown dull, and with their ears they can barely hear, and their eyes they have closed; lest they should see with their eyes and hear with their ears and understand with their heart and turn, and I would heal them.’
Jesus quoted this also
Eyes have closed
in response God said ok and blinded them
2 Peter 3:5 ESV
For they deliberately overlook this fact, that the heavens existed long ago, and the earth was formed out of water and through water by the word of God,
they willingly were ignorant

: the Gospel preached to Abraham. Cp.
RandyK Regarding Paul's preaching of the Kingdom, he has a lengthy description of it in ()... "For the creation was subjected to futility, not willingly, but because of Him who subjected it, in hope that the creation itself also will be set free from its slavery to corruption into the freedom of the glory of the children of God."
MicheleCox So Kingdom of Heaven is the Kingdom of God (on earth). Kingdom of God is not Kingdom IN Heaven
RandyK Michele... that's right... as in "...the God of heaven will set up a kingdom which will never be destroyed..."
Galatians 3:8 ESV
And the Scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, preached the gospel beforehand to Abraham, saying, “In you shall all the nations be blessed.”

Zechariah 7:12 ESV
They made their hearts diamond-hard lest they should hear the law and the words that the Lord of hosts had sent by his Spirit through the former prophets. Therefore great anger came from the Lord of hosts.

Hearts are like flint (diamond-hard)

Matthew 13:19 ESV
When anyone hears the word of the kingdom and does not understand it, the evil one comes and snatches away what has been sown in his heart. This is what was sown along the path.
word of God = Gospel = word of the kingdom = gospel of the kingdom
Bible is offensive book - no homosexuality, no sex before marriage
Luke 8:11–12 ESV
Now the parable is this: The seed is the word of God. The ones along the path are those who have heard; then the devil comes and takes away the word from their hearts, so that they may not believe and be saved.
RandyK Many people know about the Boeing 727 aircraft ... but few know about which is much more exciting. LOL
| | = parable of the seed
Kingdomless Gospel is dangerous
Good Soil - we all want to produce fruit
Rocky Soil
Romans 11:22 ESV
Note then the kindness and the severity of God: severity toward those who have fallen, but God’s kindness to you, provided you continue in his kindness. Otherwise you too will be cut off.
Heb 2
Hebrews 2 ESV
Therefore we must pay much closer attention to what we have heard, lest we drift away from it. For since the message declared by angels proved to be reliable, and every transgression or disobedience received a just retribution, how shall we escape if we neglect such a great salvation? It was declared at first by the Lord, and it was attested to us by those who heard, while God also bore witness by signs and wonders and various miracles and by gifts of the Holy Spirit distributed according to his will. For it was not to angels that God subjected the world to come, of which we are speaking. It has been testified somewhere, “What is man, that you are mindful of him, or the son of man, that you care for him? You made him for a little while lower than the angels; you have crowned him with glory and honor, putting everything in subjection under his feet.” Now in putting everything in subjection to him, he left nothing outside his control. At present, we do not yet see everything in subjection to him. But we see him who for a little while was made lower than the angels, namely Jesus, crowned with glory and honor because of the suffering of death, so that by the grace of God he might taste death for everyone. For it was fitting that he, for whom and by whom all things exist, in bringing many sons to glory, should make the founder of their salvation perfect through suffering. For he who sanctifies and those who are sanctified all have one source. That is why he is not ashamed to call them brothers, saying, “I will tell of your name to my brothers; in the midst of the congregation I will sing your praise.” And again, “I will put my trust in him.” And again, “Behold, I and the children God has given me.” Since therefore the children share in flesh and blood, he himself likewise partook of the same things, that through death he might destroy the one who has the power of death, that is, the devil, and deliver all those who through fear of death were subject to lifelong slavery. For surely it is not angels that he helps, but he helps the offspring of Abraham. Therefore he had to be made like his brothers in every respect, so that he might become a merciful and faithful high priest in the service of God, to make propitiation for the sins of the people. For because he himself has suffered when tempted, he is able to help those who are being tempted.
Began with Preaching of Jesus
Believe for awhile and fall away
Happy ending - honest and good heart - like Beroeans - more noble minded - searched daily
Psalm 8 ESV
To the choirmaster: according to The Gittith. A Psalm of David. O Lord, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth! You have set your glory above the heavens. Out of the mouth of babies and infants, you have established strength because of your foes, to still the enemy and the avenger. When I look at your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, what is man that you are mindful of him, and the son of man that you care for him? Yet you have made him a little lower than the heavenly beings and crowned him with glory and honor. You have given him dominion over the works of your hands; you have put all things under his feet, all sheep and oxen, and also the beasts of the field, the birds of the heavens, and the fish of the sea, whatever passes along the paths of the seas. O Lord, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth!
echoed throughout Paul’s letters
Importance in terms of Kingdom
as well
John 6:63 ESV
It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh is no help at all. The words that I have spoken to you are spirit and life.
Sounds like words of Jesus are not important
John 1:13 ESV
who were born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God.
reference to the virgin birth
“because God begat him” in other versions
seems overdone
awfully labored
more like singular verb “who WAS born”
Rick Brundrett While I don't dispute the emphasis on the phrase "kingdom of God/heaven" in the NT, I also don't think many Americans can relate to the word "kingdom." Would it not be better when preaching to use a more modern description to convey the same meaning?
Regeneration , ;
Galatians 4:29 ESV
But just as at that time he who was born according to the flesh persecuted him who was born according to the Spirit, so also it is now.
Lori Jane Regarding the phrase "kingdom"I tell my kids its like how politicians have a "platform" and say vote for me and I'll lower taxes, bring better health care etc. Jesus is saying his kingdom is backed by God and going to bring everlasting life on a paradise earth with no sickness or death. So if we want to be a subject of that kingdom or government we need to pledge our allegiance and act accordingly.
RandyK The spirit of the Kingdom is already at work in those who believe in the Messiah's testimony... "For in the case of those who have once been enlightened and have tasted of the heavenly gift and have been made partakers of the holy spirit, and have tasted the good word of God and the powers of the age to come,"
