You may remember the 1955 movie titled The Last Stand. It told the story of Jim Bowie who with Davy Crockett and others took their last stand for Texas’ independence at the Alamo. This last stand was made possible by all those great Tennessee volunteers who came rushing to the cause and, in the face of certain death, would not be turned away from the battle for freedom.
Or maybe you have heard about Hiroo Onada who hunkered down in the Philippine jungles in 1944 and didn’t come out until 1974. After he relinquished his post, he said, “"Every Japanese soldier was prepared for death, but as an intelligence officer I was ordered to conduct guerrilla warfare and not to die," Onoda told CNN affiliate, the Australian Broadcasting Corporation. "I had to follow my orders as I was a soldier."
I know you have heard about Jesus. On the cross he said “it is finished” and succumbed to death. Even then the next thing he did was to proclaim to those who had already died the Gospel which he had accomplished. Three days later he rose from the dead and sent his followers to preach this Gospel.
This
The last command we received from Jesus was to go and make disciples ().
First, remember it is a command
First, remember it is a command
And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.
Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,
He told us what to do
He told us what to do
Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,
He promised that we will not be alone in this work
He promised that we will not be alone in this work
teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
