6 Now when Jesus was at Bethany in the house of Simon the leper,
7 a woman came up to him with an alabaster flask of very expensive ointment, and she poured it on his head as he reclined at table.
8 And when the disciples saw it, they were indignant, saying, “Why this waste?
9 For this could have been sold for a large sum and given to the poor.”
10 But Jesus, aware of this, said to them, “Why do you trouble the woman?
For she has done a beautiful thing to me.
11 For you always have the poor with you, but you will not always have me.
12 In pouring this ointment on my body, she has done it to prepare me for burial.
13 Truly, I say to you, wherever this gospel is proclaimed in the whole world, what she has done will also be told in memory of her.”

Share the story of me and Lucas at Wal-mart ....
Helped a lady who appeared to have truck problem (Battery dead)
While trying to jump her battery we were able to chat .....
Her name was Nancy (raising 2 grandkids on her own) (7th grader and 1 younger)
They lived just down the road from Wal-Mart
Truck full of groceries!
My car battery would not jump her truck.
She called a friend (We waited until he arrived)
His truck jumped her battery and we all went on our merry way.
This was not a major act of kindness.
Not like you would see on (Undercover Boss)
This act was not going to be written down in history books.
But it was going to be remembered by ....

31 “When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, then he will sit on his glorious throne.

Turning on the electric blanket before bed time so it will be warm when they get in.
Making dinner for the family
Taking out the trash
Cutting the grass
Stopping by the store for items someone else needs
How many of us realize these things will be recorded in the memory of our heavenly father?

Mary of Bethany
Some scholars believe this is Mary Magdelen (Its not)
Some scholars believe this woman is a prostitute (this is not confirmed)
What we can concluded is the possibility she is Mary, the sister of Lazarus (Mary and Martha)
The setting of this story is the house of Simon the leper!
This woman comes up to Jesus and pours this very expensive flask of ointment over Jesus head.
Mary of Bethany

One of the major reasoning of this belief is because of this oil/ointment used in a prostitutes bedroom as well.
What we can concluded is the possibility she is Mary, the sister of Lazarus (Mary and Martha)
We find Jesus is anointed with this ointment.
This is something that is done as a customary act toward visitors: Common form of hospitality.
This was done as a sign of respect and honor, the head of the guest was anointed with oil.
This is also something that is done symbolizing a sacred consescration: (Kings were anointed (I sam 10:1,
)
Jesus actually tells them this was done to “prepare (him) me for burial.”
(Vs 12)
What we find is the disciples getting upset with this woman.
“WHY THIS WASTE?” (Judas asked this I am sure of it)
ESV translate the disciples as being “Indignant”
aganaktḗsō, from ágan (n.f.), very much, and áchthos (n.f.), pain, grief.
To be oppressed in mind, grieved, resentful.
The disciples were resentful of this woman.
Matthew tells us that Jesus questioned the disciples for this resentfulness, “Why do you trouble the woman?
For she has done a beautiful thing to me.” (Vs 10)
Jesus says to them, “.... wherever this gospel is proclaimed in the whole world, what she has done will also be told in memory of her.” (Vs 13)
