Helmet of Salvation-Cover Up!” ( NLT). Are you protected from Mayhem? All-State insurance has commercials asking viewers the question about their coverage. Whether car wreck, earthquake, hailstorms, or break in; at the end of each commercial comes the Question “are protected from mayhem?” Mayhem represents certain and uncertain danger. He represents unfortunate circumstances that can alter our lives for the worst. Mayhem represents this case Paul has been building concerning the Spiritual battle we face as believers against Satan. For the last several weeks, Pastor Orr has examined carefully each piece of armor Paul says we need for battle. The belt of Truth, breastplate of righteousness, shoes of peace, and the shield of faith are all important for battle. This week we look at the importance of the helmet of salvation. No soldier goes to the battlefield without their Helmet. The helmet provided security all around the head and neck, ensuring the soldiers ability to fight with confidence in the midst of chaos. Likewise, for believers, we can’t fight this spiritual battle without having confidence in the covering of the Cross. Because of the finished work of Christ, salvation Protects us from the Penalty, Power, and Presence of Sin allowing us to fight with confidence in a battle Christ has already won. Since God has given us Protection through the Life, Death, and Resurrection of Jesus Christ, Cover up with the Hope Salvation provides!

Our Covering by Christ
The helmet the Roman soldier used was made of leather and metal; this helmet cover the forehead, jaws and checks; and even the back of the neck, leaving only the eyes, nose, and mouth exposed. Very few weapons could penetrate this type of helmet. No soldier went on the battlefield without their helmet.
***our Pittsburg Steelers fans know all too well the importance of a helmet after this past Thursday***
The helmet gave the soldier an unwavering confidence to fight where others would be afraid. This is what salvation does to a believer. Let me stop now and say the armor of God has been specifically tailored for followers of Jesus Christ. This armor is not the armor of the unbeliever but only for the Believer who have been washed by the blood of the lamb. If you have not surrendered to the Lordship of Jesus, and made the decision to follow Jesus with all of your heart; i hate to break the news down to you but you are in a battle with no armor.
Jesus used his nailed pierced hands to place the helmet of salvation on our heads, assuring us no matter what happens in this life; we will experience victory in Christ. I am so glad that I can sing with confidence in the midst of whatever life throws my way: Victory is mine, victory is mine. . come hell or high water. . Victory is mine! With sickness in my body. . Victory is mine! When haters come all around you and to scandalize your name. . Victory is mine!
Why do we shout we have the victory? The helmet of salvation says God has covered me from the Penalty of Sin (I have been justified by the Blood of Jesus). The helmet of salvation covers me from the Power of Sin (I am being Sanctified daily into the image of Christ). The Helmet also covers me in the future from the Presence of Sin ( I will be glorified in His presence when this life is over).
Praise be to God for Covering my with Salvation. It changes my Protection
Next we see Salvation Changes our Posture

Our Confidence in Christ
Scholars tell us the helmet of the solider altered the way they looked in battle. When the soldier had on their helmet, it made them look taller, bigger, and stronger. This new look changed their view of themselves and their ability. It made them able to stand firm no matter how bad the situation looked. Salvation changes our posture. Because of the finished work of Christ we realize we have the advantage; we have already won! Salvation changed the playing field and has given us the upper hand. No matter what is going on in this life: We are more than conquerors though HIM ().
Satan will try to use anything and everything to distract us, to distort our mind. Satan will use anyone to doubt our confidence in God. But I have to remind myself that I AM more than a conqueror. I am not just a Conqueror, I am MOre than a conqueror! When the enemy comes into your mind, remind yourself I am a conqueror. The Bible says when the enemy comes in (not if, maybe, parenthetically, not metaphorically) But when the enemy comes in Like a flood, The Spirit of the Lord will raise up a standard! The Bible says: God will be your enemies Enemy and your Adversaries Adversaries, He will fight for you! The Bible says, no weapon formed will be able to prosper! I AM MORE THAN A CONqueror!!!
All things work together for good () Praise be to God for confidence in Christ!

Our Celebration with Christ
I believe the Word is true, and the word of God gives promises to all who endure in this life. “if we endure with Him, we will also reign with Him (). That’s good news; to know that when Christ return, we get to reign with Him. Oh, what a celebration!
A celebration is like a good party, Do you like parties? I know we Baptist; but its Ok to celebrate. Celebrate good times come on!!! I love a good party, the music is flowing, Good food, good friends. . . parties are great! I used to love parties until I had kids; my kids and their friends have parties all the time. I’m at the point to where I hate parties, I cringe when the invitation envelop is given to me by my boys about another party. Party, party, parties all the time. Saturdays and Sundays. . . Parties! Immediately after school M-F parties. I told my wife “I am sick and tired of parties.”
I don’t even put them on my calendar anymore thinking they will just go away. My put me through counseling because I have become the Scrooge birthday parties.
The Lord Blessed my soul this week when at a party, I saw the joy on all of the kids faces. The music is flowing, the kids are bouncing off the walls. They are having a good time. The Lord said that is what Heaven will be like, a great celebration. Jesus gives the parable of the Banquet. And this banquet lasted for a long time everyone was invited , but many did not accept the invitation. That’s all i got for you this morning, the Old testament prophets told folks about the party, Jesus Christ was the invitation to the Party and all who have trusted in Jesus for salvation will be at this party. . and OH what a celebration it is going to be.
For all who endure in this life. . . Some glad morning when this life is over, we will fly away to that home on God’s celestial shore. And when we get there we will worship and praise God; it will be a great celebration.
The Song that will be played is not gonna what you think it will be. We will not be singing:
Somehow I made it. . eventhough we did
I’m on the battlefield- although we were
Melodies from heaven- not gonna be our song.
And the song the DJ will be playing is “worthy is the lamb that was slain” (Revelations 5:12).
Then I saw in the right hand of him who was seated on the throne a scroll written within and on the back, sealed with seven seals. And I saw a mighty angel proclaiming with a loud voice, “Who is worthy to open the scroll and break its seals?” And no one in heaven or on earth or under the earth was able to open the scroll or to look into it, and I began to weep loudly because no one was found worthy to open the scroll or to look into it. And one of the elders said to me, “Weep no more; behold, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has conquered, so that he can open the scroll and its seven seals.”
And between the throne and the four living creatures and among the elders I saw a Lamb standing, as though it had been slain, with seven horns and with seven eyes, which are the seven spirits of God sent out into all the earth. And he went and took the scroll from the right hand of him who was seated on the throne. And when he had taken the scroll, the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb, each holding a harp, and golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of the saints. And they sang a new song, saying,
“Worthy are you to take the scroll
and to open its seals,
for you were slain, and by your blood you ransomed people for God
from every tribe and language and people and nation,
and you have made them a kingdom and priests to our God,
and they shall reign on the earth.”
Then I looked, and I heard around the throne and the living creatures and the elders the voice of many angels, numbering myriads of myriads and thousands of thousands, saying with a loud voice,
“Worthy is the Lamb who was slain,
to receive power and wealth and wisdom and might
and honor and glory and blessing!”
And I heard every creature in heaven and on earth and under the earth and in the sea, and all that is in them, saying,
“To him who sits on the throne and to the Lamb
be blessing and honor and glory and might forever and ever!”
And the four living creatures said, “Amen!” and the elders fell down and worshiped.
