Glory in the Church

Introduction

God’s desire is that High Plains Baptist Church would continually bring glory and honor to His name. This is the singular purpose of every true New Testament Church. These two verses give us a prescription for the process by which God will be glorified in His church. It begins with:

God’s Ability

The church that will bring glory to God must first have an unshakable faith in God’s ability.

Paul writes to the church at Ephesus and makes a significant statement about God. He tells them here that GOD IS ABLE(REPEAT WITH CONGREGATION)

Just what exactly is God able to do? Paul says that He is able to do “…exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think...”

God is able to do all that we ask and more! God is able to do all that we can imagine AND MORE!

God’s ability is limitless, it is inexhaustible the question that needs to be asked is not “What can God do?” the more appropriate question is found in scripture “Is anything too hard for the Lord?” (Genesis 18:14)

The potential for what God could do at High Plains Baptist Church right here in Clovis, NM is absolutely unlimited!

Yet we may often feel that God’s ability to work is limited. Many would say “but its 2019, we are living in a different day” but Paul says that God will be glorified in His church “throughout all ages”.

It is not the age that is limiting the Lord, it is not the wickedness of the culture, it is not the economy or the political climate, so why is it that so often God seems to be limited in what He can do?

Transition-This brings us to our next point as we consider:

Our Availability

God’s limitless power will be manifested when we, as believers, come to him and say "LORD, I AM AVAILABLE”

In the simplest terms what God is looking for is your availability.

God’s desire is to supernaturally empower the members of Local New Testament Churches all around the world to accomplish His plans.

The limiting factor is not and never has been God’s ability, the limiting factor for what God does in our generation is lack of availability among believers.

Career search- if you want the job, when they ask for your availability, you will say i’ll work anytime and do any task.

God intends for every believer to be a vessel that He can use to carry out His will upon earth. The question is will you make yourself available?

The power of God will transform you and I from worthless sinners to valuable vessels for the master’s use.

God is still able to save souls- if you will make yourself available to carry the gospel message.

God is still able to build His church- if you and I will make ourselves available as part of the construction crew.

- “...I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.”

God is still able to send a powerful move of revival in our generation- if we will make ourselves available to fast and pray and seek His face.

“Ah Lord God! behold, thou hast made the heaven and the earth by thy great power and stretched out arm, and there is nothing too hard for thee:” ()

"LORD, I AM AVAILABLE”- can you sincerely make this statement with me today.

Conlusion

God will be glorified at High Plains Baptist Church when His ability is paired with our availability!

God’s desire is to use our church to make an impact on our community, our state, and even the world, but this will only happen if each of us will come to God and say Lord I am ready to carry out whatever task you would have me to do whenever you would have me to do it!

We must not neglect to mention one final phrase “by Christ Jesus”. Anything we receive from God comes to us because of our relationship with Jesus Christ!

God is able to save you from eternal condemnation. God is able to grant you forgiveness of sin and a home in heaven. God is able to transform your life and mold you into a vessel through which His power can be made manifest. He will do it today if you will but call on Him placing your trust in the finished work of Christ to save you!
