Storms are coming!

Matthew 7:24–27 HCSB
“Therefore, everyone who hears these words of Mine and acts on them will be like a sensible man who built his house on the rock. The rain fell, the rivers rose, and the winds blew and pounded that house. Yet it didn’t collapse, because its foundation was on the rock. But everyone who hears these words of Mine and doesn’t act on them will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand. The rain fell, the rivers rose, the winds blew and pounded that house, and it collapsed. And its collapse was great!”
Just a few verses earlier Jesus is talking about people who think they have a relationship with God. He talks about people who measure their proximity to God by all the things that can do. God see’s things differently. He’s not so much concerned about what we can do but on our recognizing that we must have Jesus in our lives in order to do the things that Jesus did and the evidence of that connection to Jesus is the fruit that we are growing, and here is how we grow that kind of fruit.
John 15:5 HCSB
“I am the vine; you are the branches. The one who remains in Me and I in him produces much fruit, because you can do nothing without Me.

Survival Mode

(minecraft story and what happens at night)
Gathering the resources.
Jesus gives us a picture of what needs to go into a life that can survive the storms.

LOVE

Matthew 5:43–45 HCSB
“You have heard that it was said, Love your neighbor and hate your enemy. But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, so that you may be sons of your Father in heaven. For He causes His sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous.

FORGIVENESS

Matthew 6:14–15 HCSB
“For if you forgive people their wrongdoing, your heavenly Father will forgive you as well. But if you don’t forgive people, your Father will not forgive your wrongdoing.
Matthew 6:14–15 HCSB
“For if you forgive people their wrongdoing, your heavenly Father will forgive you as well. But if you don’t forgive people, your Father will not forgive your wrongdoing.

GENEROSITY

Matthew 6:19–21 HCSB
“Don’t collect for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal. But collect for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys, and where thieves don’t break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

FAITH

Matthew 6:31–34 HCSB
So don’t worry, saying, ‘What will we eat?’ or ‘What will we drink?’ or ‘What will we wear?’ For the idolaters eagerly seek all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be provided for you. Therefore don’t worry about tomorrow, because tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.
Matthew 6:
These blocks form what should be a part of our daily existence. The tools to get there are found in what has to be one of the most important sermons of Jesus existence.

Tower Defense

All the resources in the world are useless if we don’t have the tools to use them.
Luke 6:20–21 HCSB
Then looking up at His disciples, He said: You who are poor are blessed, because the kingdom of God is yours. You who are now hungry are blessed, because you will be filled. You who now weep are blessed, because you will laugh.

Tools of the trade

Humility (Poor)
Desire (Hunger)
Brokenness (weeping)
Putting all these things together we have the ability to survive the storms that are going to come our way,and to help others survive the storms that are raging against them.

How to survive

Have an active faith in Christ that is YOUR OWN!
Dig into scripture and find out what it says!
Spend time with other Christ Followers!
Spend time with People who are not Christ Followers!
Listen for God’s voice!
Build your faith through the works that He calls you too!
How to rumble

How to get eaten in the Zombie Apocalypse

Rely on the faith of others!
Limit your exposure to scripture to Sunday and maybe Wednesday!
Spend time with people who are just like us!
Shut our doors and our hearts to others!
Talk at God!
Work only at temporal things!
The way to prepare for the storms that are coming is not really as hard as we like to make it out to be. We must actively be a part of building the shelter we will need to survive them. We must use the tools that we are given, and we must maintain the shelter and the tools.
