Stress: Understanding Stress (Part 2)
Stress is . . .
• Normal part of life
• Caused by change. Two things go with that: 1) wrong beliefs
2) unsolicited events
Stress is a never-ending condition of life caused by change, wrong beliefs, and/or unsolicited events--and all of them demand adjustment in life (of some sort).
1. False belief that the cause of unhappiness is external therefore I can't control it
2. False belief that I can expect life events and people to be fair
3. False belief that emotional love is the basis for a lasting marriage
4. False belief that I have the right to be dependent on someone other than myself
5. False belief that my childhood experiences must continue to control me and determine my emotions and behavior
6. False belief that life events can be planned with certainty.
