in the Bible there is a clear and direct instruciton to the people of God to be steadfast and perservere through difficulty for the sake of future glory. It doesn't take much effort to see how maintaining an attitude of committed dedication to a cause would affect all of life. In this sermon I will work to give examples of determination from scripture as well as inspire the listener to trust in grace as they grow weary in their faith journey. How do we continue to drive forward when we feel worn out and exhausted by the battles of the day? Look to Jesus, the one who said He would spring up a well within you.

Psalm 57:7 ESV
7 My heart is steadfast, O God, my heart is steadfast! I will sing and make melody!
if you’ve been paying attention to this series over the past few weeks you should have a pretty good list of things you can do to become a pretty high level competitor. Loyalty, Passion and Leadership are each vital qulaities for top level competitors no matter the nature of your engagement.
This week we are going to learn about a characteristic that has been through a bit of a rediscovery process over the past 7 years.
What does it mean to be “steadfast” or “determined” “hold true” “Stand Firm”
Nowadays I think we have some new words for it - Grit, tenacity, toughness
Proverbs 11:19 ESV
19 Whoever is steadfast in righteousness will live, but he who pursues evil will die.
Psalm 57:7 ESV
7 My heart is steadfast, O God, my heart is steadfast! I will sing and make melody!
STEADFASTNESS
1 Corinthians 15:58 ESV
58 Therefore, my beloved brothers, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that in the Lord your labor is not in vain.
FIRMNESS
Colossians 2:5 ESV
5 For though I am absent in body, yet I am with you in spirit, rejoicing to see your good order and the firmness of your faith in Christ.
Matthew 7:14 ESV
14 For the gate is narrow and the way is hard that leads to life, and those who find it are few.
Luke 21:19
Luke 21:19 ESV
19 By your endurance you will gain your lives.
Hebrews 10:36 ESV
36 For you have need of endurance, so that when you have done the will of God you may receive what is promised.
Hebrews
Philippians 3:12–4:1 NIV84
12 Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already been made perfect, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me. 13 Brothers, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, 14 I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus. 15 All of us who are mature should take such a view of things. And if on some point you think differently, that too God will make clear to you. 16 Only let us live up to what we have already attained. 17 Join with others in following my example, brothers, and take note of those who live according to the pattern we gave you. 18 For, as I have often told you before and now say again even with tears, many live as enemies of the cross of Christ. 19 Their destiny is destruction, their god is their stomach, and their glory is in their shame. Their mind is on earthly things. 20 But our citizenship is in heaven. And we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ, 21 who, by the power that enables him to bring everything under his control, will transform our lowly bodies so that they will be like his glorious body. 1 Therefore, my brothers, you whom I love and long for, my joy and crown, that is how you should stand firm in the Lord, dear friends!
