The Scene

A battle between the Philistines and the Israelites.

Let me translate the size of Goliath just a little. This dude was about 9 feet and 9 inches tall. His coat of armor weight 125 pounds about his spear was about 36 pounds. Goliath was a giant. Literally!
I want you to imagine a giant standing right in front of you blocking your path. See, we have giants blocking our path who are cry out and challenge us.
What is it saying?
Our Giants come in many different forms, shapes, and sizes.
They tells challenge us to come forward and usually expose our weakness, fears, and shortcomings.
Our giants set out to defeat us and makes us believe that they can defy God.

David Hears

David’s oldest three brothers are at the battle front.
Jesse sends David with a care package and wants to check on sons.
However, David hears Goliath.

As David is checking on his brothers, he hears Goliath.
Have you ever faced a giant in your life, and your are just dumbfounded and defeated, and then then you see someone else go through the same thing and they just stare at their giant and with a look of determination they somehow defeat the giant.
and this leaves you all honked off!!!
Eliab overhears David.
We get mad because their courage exposes our fears!!!
Saul Calls David

David goes, I will do it.
Saul goes how.
I will tell you.
I know of a time that I killed both a lion and a bear.

The Lord who rescued me from the paw of the lion and the paw of the bear will rescue me from the hand of this philistine.” -

The reason that the seasoned Christian is able to defeat their Giant is because they have beaten many beasts, they have had many wars, and they know the might of the Almighty God.
David knew that God was with him in the last battle, and will be with him in the next one!!!

The real question is not rather or not if God is with you, but rather are you with God?

Saul Gives David the Armor

Saul gives David his tunic, and his helmet.
It felt strange to David.
David decides to go in his battle gear.
Sometimes we try to find some Big Secrect to battle our Giants, but the truth is that we already have the tools to fight with.
Faith
Prayer
Scripture
Koinonia
Worship
There are new insights. But we have the tools.

The Battle Cry

Like the Turkey Call, the point of the Call is to draw the turkey in, the Battle Cry is designed to draw the Giant into defeat. Our Battle Cry is the cry of our faith as we fight our giants.
It is the directly dependent upon belief that Jesus has already won the battle.
