Psalm 100:1–5 NASB95
Shout joyfully to the Lord, all the earth. Serve the Lord with gladness; Come before Him with joyful singing. Know that the Lord Himself is God; It is He who has made us, and not we ourselves; We are His people and the sheep of His pasture. Enter His gates with thanksgiving And His courts with praise. Give thanks to Him, bless His name. For the Lord is good; His lovingkindness is everlasting And His faithfulness to all generations.
Evangelical Commentary on the Bible C. The Life of Faith (5:16–18)

Christian joy must not be confused with shallow feelings of happiness, for it is a joy that springs from our redemption in Christ and can be experienced even in the midst of tragedy and pain—“sorrowful, yet always rejoicing” (2 Cor. 6:10).

Thanksgiving is a harvest festival, family gathering, it’s a time to celebrate, to bring to memory blessing of the year.
2 Corinthians 6:10 NIV
sorrowful, yet always rejoicing; poor, yet making many rich; having nothing, and yet possessing everything.

Rejoice always

Psalm 100:1-
Is it possible to rejoice always?
The bible says it is
Ephesians 5:20 NIV

Colossians 3:17 NIV
17 And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.

our joy must nor be confused with shallow feelings of happiness,
for it is a joy that springs from our redemption in Christ

our Joy is not based in things, or circumstance.
To rejoice always we must pray without ceasing!

Pray non Stop

Is that possible?
Ephesians 6:18 NIV
18 And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.
Eph
It means to be connected, it means that the entire life of the believer is lived in dependence on God.
Just like you are connected to wifi every where you should be with God.

In Every Thing

Even what seems adverse:
Paul is not asking his readers to thank God
for tragedy and misfortune,
or exhorts them to be thankful in the midst of the various and changing situations in life.
Be they good or bad.
Romans 8:28 NIV
28 And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.
Rom 8:28
there are always good reasons for gratitude.
God’s children are to be overflowing with thankfulness.
Colossians 2:7 NIV
7 rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness.

For this is God’s will

Romans 12:2 NIV

Thanksgiving is a response to the redemptive work of Jesus
Romans 7:25 NIV
25 Thanks be to God, who delivers me through Jesus Christ our Lord! So then, I myself in my mind am a slave to God’s law, but in my sinful nature a slave to the law of sin.
Rom 7:
Who here needs to know the will of God?
Who needs to be more thankful?
Who needs to pray more?
Who needs to rejoice?
Sermon Outlines from the Psalms 20. Thanksgiving (Psalm 100:1–5)

I. Thanks-praising—v. 1

A. Praise—“Make a joyful noise unto the Lord.” Do not make excuses or complaints, but make a joyful noise of praise and thanks.

B. Person—“Unto the Lord.” Why praise the Lord? The most important reason: He has saved us from sin—Ps. 103:3.

C. Places—“All ye lands.” All God’s people should praise Him; everyone who has breath should thank Him—Ps. 150:6.

II. Thanks-serving—v. 2

A. Serving—“Serve the Lord with gladness.” The Bible speaks of joy through salvation—Ps. 51:12, of our joy being full—1 John 1:4.

B. Singing—“Come before his presence with singing.” The Bible speaks of spiritual songs—Eph. 5:19. We sing because we are happy and free!

III. Thanks-depending—v. 3

A. Person—“Know ye that the Lord he is God.” Because He is God, He will not change—Heb. 13:8; He will not lie—Titus 1:2.

B. Plan—“It is he that hath made us and not we ourselves.” Man was made in the image of God—Gen. 1:27. He didn’t just come into being—God created him! Man was made for fellowship with God—Gen. 2:7. Man was created with a soul, which makes possible fellowship with God!

C. People—“We are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.” Jesus the Good Shepherd gives His life for His sheep—John 10:11.

IV. Thanks-giving—v. 4

A. Respecting—“Enter into his gates with thanksgiving.” Praising God for our blessings will increase them; failing to thank Him will diminish them.

B. Rejoicing—“And into his courts with praise.” You can thank and praise at the same time!

C. Recognizing—“Be thankful unto him and bless his name.” Recognize Him as God’s Son. Recognize the superiority of His name to every other.

V. Thanks-remembering—v. 5

A. Character—“For the Lord is good.” All things that come from God are good and helpful—Rom. 8:28.

B. Compassion—“his mercy is everlasting.” God wants all men to repent—2 Peter 3:9.

C. Continuance—“And his truth endureth to all generations.” God’s Word is everlasting—Matt. 5:18.

What are you thankful for?
