Intro

This is a great time to look our lives and be thankful

Every once in a something happens and get a heart of gratitude

Every year there is holiday to step back and be grateful

Set your mind on things that are above, You are now with Jesus

Put to death therefore what is earthly, Put on Christ

He underlines everything with “Thanksgiving”

You see the word thankful 3 times

And all that is listed is practiced throughout your whole life

Not a check mark and then move on to the next, daily lives

Thankfulness

A thankful heart underlines all these things

We need to double down on being grateful, wherever we are

This will help us and enable us to have more joy and be more like Jesus

This starts with a mind that is focused on the things that are above (rather than the worldly)

“He is so heavenly minded that he is no earthly good”

We must be heavenly minded if we are to be of any use on Earth

When we focus on the things that are above we begin to have a grateful heart (We remember all that Jesus has done)

In practice when you begin thanking God for what he has done

How much easier is it to be compassionate and kind?

How much more patience would you have with others? Forgiveness?

How much more peace would we have?

As you get older more things you experience, more suffering, more trials

When you are in that moment it seems like thats going to be the rest of your life

The smallest things make you snap

In those moments triple down on being thankful (Journal ex.)

The Bible says there is a peace that surpasses all understanding

Word, Prayer, Singing be thankful

We need to sing with a thankful heart (Remember what Jesus has done)

In the psalms if you look at the verses talking about thanksgiving, most of them have singing associated with them

Do everything in the name of Jesus with thanksgiving

There is absence of contentment in todays culture

True contentment, When is enough?

We always want more, This can be good and righteous

Wherever we are there should be thankfulness and contentment that follows (This is something that is learned)

Does not happen by accident (When I reach this level ex.)

Let’s be a Church that sets our minds on the things of God, things that are above, things that are eternal

So that we can be a grateful people (Not moaning, grumbling)

So excited for next year

God has saved us
