As I sat and listened to a basketball coach stress the importance of his players playing their roles, I was drawn to all of the success of the Golden State Warriors a few years ago. You had a team who had guys that understood the importance of their roles. Everyone understood that Steph Curry was their key shooter, although Clay Thompson could add points as need as well. Dremond Green knew crashing the boards, a bucket or two when needed and motivating the team was his role. Yu had Andre Iguadola and Shawn Livingston coming off the bench to add a spark. And with the addition of KD Kevin Durant who accepted his role as a scorer and leader the team experienced great success.
I believe that it is God’s intent for our families to experience great success by having each of us fulfill our God-given roles in our families. Everybody has a role, the question is, how have you been doing in YOUR role?
As we take a closer look at this subject, I will share with you what Scripture has to say concerning our roles in the family. I believe if we follow the Scriptures, our families will become more godly and our churches will be stronger, because godly families make godly churches.
Now there are some responsibilities that both the man and woman like You shall not commit adultery. Whoever spares the rod hates his son, but he who loves him is diligent to discipline him. And God blessed them. And God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth and subdue it, and have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over every living thing that moves on the earth.” But there are others unique to each.

Are you willing to work hard at fulfilling your role in the family, living out the image you were created in?
If you are going to have a godly family then you have to work hard at fulfilling your role. Stop trying to tell everyone else what their role is, while neglecting to fulfill your own. Fulfilling these roles takes hard work and sacrifice. But if you give it your best, you will have a godly family that can build a godly church.
How can you do this?
Do it like Jesus did it. He was obedient into death. He love his bride unconditionally, to the point one Friday, he died for her.
