Luke
Lets talk about Luke first.
We do not know a lot about him.
We believe that he is the companion of Paul, who is mentioned several times in Paul’s writings.
(NIV)
11 Only Luke is with me.
Get Mark and bring him with you, because he is helpful to me in my ministry.
(NIV)
24 And so do Mark, Aristarchus, Demas and Luke, my fellow workers.
It appears that he travels with Paul all through out acts. in the second part of acts the writing changes from a narrative about the apostles to we language.
(NIV)
Paul Ashore on Malta
28 Once safely on shore, we found out that the island was called Malta.
Because of this we believe that Like is the doctor that Paul speaks about in
(NIV)
14 Our dear friend Luke, the doctor, and Demas send greetings.
Was he that doctor?
maybe… maybe not..
I think so.. here is why lets look at the story of the woman with the issue of blood…
(NIV)
26 She had suffered a great deal under the care of many doctors and had spent all she had, yet instead of getting better she grew worse.
(NIV)
43 And a woman was there who had been subject to bleeding for twelve years, but no one could heal her.
talk about this.
So to spend just a little more time on Luke himself… we do not think that he was Jewish… because his name is not mentioned in the list of Jewish co-workers that Paul lists through out his other writings.
