Her and Abraham had been promised a child for all nations. Sara laughed and displeased God. They went on to do things their way and not Gods way with Abraham having a child with their servant Hagar who they named Ishmael. God ends up protecting them and blessing them among nations but it was not what God had in mind. They go on to have Isaac and he is the son of the father of the everlasting covenant.
