Transition – We know what the true Ultimate Gift is….Jesus Christ. ()

Big Idea: The Living Word of God, Jesus, is the only true light given to man by God by which we may be restored to a right relationship with God.
I. Jesus Is God –

a. In the Beginning – – Jesus was there
i. “In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.” (, ESV)
b. And the Word was with God – – Jesus participated in the perfection of creation
i. “Then God said, “Let US make man in OUR image, after OUR likeness…” (, ESV, emphasis mine)
c. And the Word was God – – Jesus is God!
i. “He is the radiance of the glory of God and the exact imprint of his nature, and he upholds the universe by the word of his power. After making purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high, having become as much superior to angels as the name he has inherited is more excellent than theirs.” (, ESV)

a. Jesus became like a man –
i. “Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus, who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men. And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross.” (, ESV)
b. Grace and Truth came through Jesus –
i. “For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.” (, ESV).
c. By dying on the cross for our sins –
i. ““For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.” (, ESV)

IV. Application
a. The gift of Christ to God’s people is better than any gift that could be given. Better than any movie, smart phone, piece of farming equipment…better than anything because the gift of Christ is one with an eternal impact.
i. This Christmas, make it a point to tell someone you love, someone you care about, or even someone you don’t really know about this gift, the greatest, most ultimate gift that was given some 2,000 years ago.
ii. Pray for intentional opportunities to come up to share the gospel with others.

a. So if you are here and you realize that your sin has separated you from God and you feel that godly grief that leads to repentance (), I urge you to call out in repentance to God ()
b. If you are here and Christmas as just become jaded, I urge you to call out to God and seek His face, as He is forever faithful to His people.
