Reading 1: Matthew 1:18-24 (ESV)
18 Now the birth of Jesus Christ took place in this way.
When his mother Mary had been betrothed to Joseph,
before they came together she was found to be with
child from the Holy Spirit. 19 And her husband Joseph,
being a just man and unwilling to put her to shame,
resolved to divorce her quietly. 20 But as he considered
these things, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to
him in a dream, saying, “Joseph, son of David, do not
fear to take Mary as your wife, for that which is
conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit. 21 She will bear
a son, and you shall call his name Jesus, for he will
save his people from their sins.” 22 All this took place to
fulfill what the Lord had spoken by the prophet:
23
“Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son,
and they shall call his name Immanuel”
(which means, God with us). 24 When Joseph woke
from sleep, he did as the angel of the Lord commanded
him: he took his wife 25 but knew her not until she had
given birth to a son. And he called his name Jesus.
Reading 2: Romans 12:1-8 (ESV)
1 I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of
God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy
and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship.
2 Do not be conformed to this world, but be
transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by
testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is
good and acceptable and perfect.
3 For by the grace given to me I say to everyone among
you not to think of himself more highly than he ought to
think, but to think with sober judgment, each according
to the measure of faith that God has assigned. 4 For as
in one body we have many members, and the members
do not all have the same function, 5 so we, though
many, are one body in Christ, and individually members
one of another. 6 Having gifts that differ according to
the grace given to us, let us use them: if prophecy, in
proportion to our faith; 7 if service, in our serving; the
one who teaches, in his teaching; 8 the one who
exhorts, in his exhortation; the one who contributes, in
generosity; the one who leads, with zeal; the one who
does acts of mercy, with cheerfulness.
Tea/Coffee will be served after the morning service to which
everyone is warmly invited
No Sunday school until after the holidays.
6pm service – led by Mr John Hebditch
