2019 Advent 2 - Love, Proctor Vow Renewal
Homework
1. Read 1 Corinthians 1:26-29. Also read 1 Corinthians 6:9-10. Why did Christ want us for a bride? Often, when we marry, we look forward to what the spouse will bring to the marriage. What did we bring to our marriage with Christ? Even those of us who grew up going to church and received Christ as a young age have sinned greatly against our God. What about the good things we have done? What did Paul say in Philippians 3:4-9? In light of these passages, what did you bring to the marriage with Christ? Why did He want you?
2. Read 1 Corinthians 6:9-11. How do you fit into this list? Would you marry someone with this character? Why would Christ want you?
3. Read Jeremiah 31:3, and Hosea 11:4. Why would Christ want you and me? Because of His great love!! That is always the way God has worked. (Dt 7:8; 10:15; 23:5; 33:3; Ps 44:3; Hos 11:1; Mal 1:2) And, that is still true today. Read Ephesians 1:3-14.
4. Read 1 Corinthians 1:30-31, and Philippians 3:9-10. What did Christ bring to us in our marriage? What benefits do you gain from being married to Christ?
5. Read Ephesians 5:25-33. How much does Christ love you? What shows the depth of His love for you? What, according to verse 27 has He also done for you? Has Christ stopped caring for you? Consider verse 29. How does Christ care for you and feed you? Spend time in worship and prayer thanking Christ for His great love for you!
