“Do this in Remembrance of Me”
He took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to them, saying, “This is my body given for you; do this in remembrance of me.” ().
Then he took a cup, and when he had given thanks, he gave it to them, saying, “Drink from it, all of you.
This is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins.
I tell you, I will not drink from this fruit of the vine from now on until that day when I drink it new with you in my Father’s kingdom.”
()
The Lord Jesus, on the night he was betrayed, took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it and said, “This is my body, which is for you; do this in remembrance of me.”
In the same way, after supper he took the cup, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood; do this, whenever you drink it, in remembrance of me.”
For whenever you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death until he comes.
()
Is not the cup of thanksgiving for which we give thanks a participation in the blood of Christ?
And is not the bread that we break a participation in the body of Christ?

Ask Ourselves
What did Jesus want us to remember about His time here?
Could it be that we have missed the full scope of what He wants us to remember (recollect) during our time of communion?
Wouldn’t He be asking us to remember everything He did when He walked with us since He said before His departure “as the Father sent me, I am sending you”?
Wasn’t His last example of serving the washing of His disciple’s feet something He wanted us to remember?
What did Jesus do while He was here, before He ascended to sit at the Father’s right hand?
