A Life to the Glory of God: Work
The way God works
The way God works
God works to create -
God works to care by providing for his creation -
God works to cultivate -
(work it and keep it)
This means:
Work is God-given (this is part of why we were created).
Work is good
Work was done pre-fall (
)
The Father and Son work (
)
The Gospel lens at work
We possess a gospel worldview, even when/if we aren’t saying so.
Honor God first, earn a wage second (
)
Serve others, even at your own expense (
)
“even as the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as
Work as unto the Lord (
)
The way we work
As employees:
Work with respect and fear (
)
Honor authority, make every effort to fulfill requests, and find privilege in the work you “get” to do (not have to).
Work with sincerity of heart (
)
Posses a Bibilical ethic.
Work hard always (
)
Don’t just work to please, or show-off, or only when others are watching.
Work with a good will (
)
Have a joyous heart
As employers:
Remember, you are a fellow slave (all above apply to you too).
You are no better or different (titles at work distort worth and value)
Do not threaten
Fear should not be used to motivate (God honoring character motivates)
Treat everyone the same.
See them as human.
Care for their while life.
Conclusion
You have an audience that is always watching (boss, employees, peers, customers, vendors).
Do all of the above to the best of your ability.
Ultimately, you have an audience of One.
2. Ultimately, you have an audience of One.
Succeed as unto the Lord.
Fail as unto the Lord.
