Isaiah’s prophecy about Jesus
In the first 11 chapters of Isaiah we find 6 Messianic prophecies that describe (sometimes in great detail) the mission and circumstance of Jesus’ coming… Our passage for this morning is the final of those prophesies here are a couple of the ones before it.
Isaiah 7:
Isaiah 9:
OUR TEXT FOR TODAY:

We must accept two truths - first our eyes and hands lead us to sin not salvation - don’t trust them.

isaiah 48:22
How does the Spirit guide us in God’s will?
Isaiah 11:2
He breaks this prophecy into 3 groupings.
Wisdom & Understanding
Wisdom asks the right questions:
I have always believed it is way more important to ask the right question than get the right answer.
The right answer to the wrong question gets you know where closer to where you need to be.
Seeing clearly, and accurately the circumstance of your situation is crucial to discovering how to move forward.
Understanding give the right answer:
Wisdom goes hand in hand with understanding because understanding is taking an inventory of the circumstance and knowing your next step.
Having one without the other wisdom or understanding makes the other worthless.
To act appropriately from the correct perspective is the art of living well.
Counsel & Might
Spirit of Counsel gives direction.
Most of the time our understanding begins with the realization we need others to move forward.
Christians argue over the nature of our freedom of will when the reality is the Spirit directs us towards God’s will in any and every situation.
Spirit of Might provides the ability to carry it out
Having the resources to carry it out is pivotal.
knowledge & fear
Knowledge = the way to do it.
Fear = acknowledgement of God and self in relationship
How do we lean on the Spirit to move forward?
We must accept two truths - first our eyes and hands lead us to sin not salvation - don’t trust them.
