The Bible tells us to fear the Lord; even to delight in the fear of the Lord. That's an odd turn of phrase, isn't it? Many struggle with the idea of fearing the Lord, as we are taught that Jesus is our friend. But in fact, our God has power that is beyond our comprehension. And when we begin to understand just how mighty He is, and how small and helpless we are by comparison, that is where our wisdom begins. Now, we can ponder these mysteries: the mighty powerful God of the universe sees us, and even though he sees how we disobey him, he inexplicably chooses to forgive instead of punish. That's a fearful God that we can't fully understand, but we can certainly delight in!
