More than Conquerors
Romans 8:31–38
Proclaim your victory, even before you have it
How many are good at sports? In primary school I was horrible in sports. But I
joined the Basketball team anyways. On our last game they put me in last minute,
because they had no else. Towards the end of the game, they had to pass me the
ball, I closed my eyes and threw the ball, and scored! We won that game and I felt
so victorious!
Romans 8:37 Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who
loved us.
more than conquerors - “over and above,” and “to conquer.”
The word describes one who is super victorious, who wins more than an
ordinary victory, but who is overpowering in achieving abundant victory. And
has control over their situation.
Now this is how I want to live my life - You might ask, “But
how can I live like “more than a conqueror”, when I don’t
see victory in my circumstances anywhere close?
By proclaiming the victory even before you have it! Read the story of Jehoshaphat
(2 Chron 20). – San Diego tent revival story
They believed God for the victory, went out for war against an army 3 times
bigger than theirs. Put their worshipers on the front line and starting chanting,
“Praise the Lord, for His mercy endures forever.”.
And guess what happened… They got the victory without fighting for it. They
just praised God for it, like He told them to do!
So, what is He telling you to put first? Be obedient and
watch what happens!
Matthew 6:33 Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he
will give you everything you need.
When my sister and her husband were trying to have kids, they had two miscarriages instead. The third time around, my mom and me decided to fast a pray
victory and not loss in my sister’s future family.
On the third day she went to the doctor and they confirmed there was a healthy
baby in her. They went on to have two kids.
We proclaim that we are more than conquerors and that we have the victory,
even before we have it.
Worship team come up and read the passage below
Romans 8:38–39 So now I live with the confidence that there is nothing in the
universe with the power to separate us from God’s love. I’m convinced that his
love will triumph over death, life’s troubles, fallen angels, or dark rulers in the
heavens. There is nothing in our present or future circumstances that can weaken
his love. There is no power above us or beneath us—no power that could ever be
found in the universe that can distance us from God’s passionate love, which is
lavished upon us through our Lord Jesus, the Anointed One!
My wife gave me an idea on what to speak about today. I believe the word she
gave me is for some of you – TRUST! Trust God for victory, He is doing a new
thing, TRUST!
Communion time – In Remembrance of me
Luke 22:18-20
For I tell you that from now on I will not drink of the fruit of the vine until the kingdom of God
comes.” And he took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it and gave it to them, saying,
“This is my body, which is given for you. Do this in remembrance of me.” And likewise, the cup after
they had eaten, saying, “This cup that is poured out for you is the new covenant in my blood.
Jesus wasn’t just making a statement of us remembering him, but a covenant that He was
remembering us too. It is a reminder of the gospel message and power that comes from it – Power to
be more than conquerors, to be victorious, to know that as we remember Him and what He did and
does for us, He remembers us and the promises He made to us.
