To Pray – 1.6
You Have To Change – Change What? – Nearly Everything
When it comes to change, I: 1 love it. 2 hate it. 3 accept it. 4 avoid it. 5 am intimidated by it. 6 don’t understand why we need it.
When the disciples ask Jesus to teach them to pray, what are some of the
implications included in their request?___________________________________

Changes Upon Changes
Matthew 4:17 From that time on What time on?___________________________________
Jesus began to preach, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven has come near.” What is he saying? What
does he want his followers to do?______________________________________

Matthew 4:18 As Jesus was walking beside the Sea of Galilee, he saw two brothers, Simon called Peter and his brother Andrew. They were casting a net into the lake, for they were fishermen. 19 “Come, follow me,” Jesus said, “and I will send you out to fish for people.” 20 At once they left their nets and followed him. And what did they do?_______________________________________________
Matthew 5: 11 “Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. 12 Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the
prophets who were before you. Jesus is saying____________________________________

Mathew 5: 21 “You have heard that it was said to the people long ago, ‘You shall not murder] and anyone who murders will be subject to judgment.’ 22 But I tell you that anyone who is angry with a brother or sister will be subject
to judgment. Jesus is saying______________________________________________

Mathew 5:27 “You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall not commit adultery.’ 28 But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart. 29 If your right eye causes you to stumble, gouge it out and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to be
thrown into hell. Jesus is saying___________________________________________

Matthew 5: 38 “You have heard that it was said, ‘Eye for eye, and tooth for tooth.’ 39 But I tell you, do not resist an evil person. If anyone slaps you on the right cheek, turn to them the other cheek also. 40 And if anyone wants to sue you and take your shirt, hand over your coat as well. 41 If anyone forces you to go one mile, go with them two miles. 42
Give to the one who asks you, and do not turn away from the one who wants to borrow from you. Jesus is
saying____________________________________________________________
Matthew 5: 43 “You have heard that it was said, ‘Love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ 44 But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, 45 that you may be children of your Father in heaven. He causes
his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous. . Jesus is

Making Everything New!
Revelation 21: 21 Then I saw “a new heaven and a new earth,” for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and there was no longer any sea. 2 I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband. 3 And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Look! God’s dwelling place is now among the people, and he will dwell with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. 4 ‘He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death’ or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.”
5 He who was seated on the throne said, “Look! I am making everything new!” Then he said, “Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true.”
Are you ready to learn a new way to pray? See you next week…
