Text -
2 Corinthians 4:11–12 NKJV
11 For we who live are always delivered to death for Jesus’ sake, that the life of Jesus also may be manifested in our mortal flesh. 12 So then death is working in us, but life in you.
2 Corinthians 4:5–7 NKJV
5 For we do not preach ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord, and ourselves your bondservants for Jesus’ sake. 6 For it is the God who commanded light to shine out of darkness, who has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ. 7 But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellence of the power may be of God and not of us.
Title - Jesus Christ, My Treasure

The Main Point

Preaching is the ministry of delivering the treasure of heaven to the lost souls in the world. And it comes at a price for those who carry the treasure.

Sermon Points

The Treasure

The treasure is the Lord Jesus Christ

2 Corinthians 4:5 NKJV
5 For we do not preach ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord, and ourselves your bondservants for Jesus’ sake.
Why Treasure?

Your treasure is your most precious possession.

Your treasure is your pride.

your treasure is your pride.

Your treasure is value of your life.

your treasure is value of your life.

Your treasure is where your heart is.

your treasure is where your heart is.
Why Christ?
John 10:10 NKJV
10 The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.

Jesus came to make us “rich” - in the real sense.

2 Corinthians 8:9 NKJV
9 For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though He was rich, yet for your sakes He became poor, that you through His poverty might become rich.
2
Revelation 3:17–18 NKJV
17 Because you say, ‘I am rich, have become wealthy, and have need of nothing’—and do not know that you are wretched, miserable, poor, blind, and naked— 18 I counsel you to buy from Me gold refined in the fire, that you may be rich; and white garments, that you may be clothed, that the shame of your nakedness may not be revealed; and anoint your eyes with eye salve, that you may see.
Revelation 3.17-18

Jesus offers Himself as the source of true riches.

Preaching is the ministry of offering Christ to the poor so that they may become truly rich!

The Earthen Vessel

Why “clay"?
2 Corinthians 4:7 NKJV
7 But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellence of the power may be of God and not of us.
excellence - superabundance (of power)
The
1 Corinthians 1:22–24 NKJV
22 For Jews request a sign, and Greeks seek after wisdom; 23 but we preach Christ crucified, to the Jews a stumbling block and to the Greeks foolishness, 24 but to those who are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God.
1 Corinthians 1.22-2
So that the preacher may depend only to God for power.
The vessel is us, our mortal existence
2 Corinthians 4:7 NKJV
7 But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellence of the power may be of God and not of us.
2 Corinthians 4:5 NKJV
5 For we do not preach ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord, and ourselves your bondservants for Jesus’ sake.
2 Corinthians 4:8–10 NKJV
8 We are hard-pressed on every side, yet not crushed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; 9 persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed— 10 always carrying about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus, that the life of Jesus also may be manifested in our body.
2 Corinthians 4:11 NKJV
11 For we who live are always delivered to death for Jesus’ sake, that the life of Jesus also may be manifested in our mortal flesh.
2
2 Corinthians 4.
people love to press, crush, and throw clay
So that the life of Jesus may be manifested in our mortal body.
hard-pressed (the clay), but not crushed (the treasure)
perplexed (the clay), but not in despair (the treasure)
persecuted (the clay), but not forsaken (the treasure)
struck down (the clay) but not destroyed (the treasure)
2 Corinthians 4:11 NKJV
11 For we who live are always delivered to death for Jesus’ sake, that the life of Jesus also may be manifested in our mortal flesh.
2 Corinthians 4:12 NKJV
12 So then death is working in us, but life in you.

The Purpose of God

2 Corinthians 4:11 NKJV
11 For we who live are always delivered to death for Jesus’ sake, that the life of Jesus also may be manifested in our mortal flesh.
God wants to demonstrate what the life of Christ can do in us.
2 Corinthians 4:12 NKJV
12 So then death is working in us, but life in you.
God wants to convey His love to His people.
2 Corinthians 11:15 NKJV
15 Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also transform themselves into ministers of righteousness, whose end will be according to their works.
2 Corinthians 4:15 NKJV
15 For all things are for your sakes, that grace, having spread through the many, may cause thanksgiving to abound to the glory of God.

Conclusion

If we are called of God to preach -
we cannot escape His purpose
because we offering to the world the real treasure
because we are clay
God will not save you from some of the hardest things in life
because the only way to manifest the life of Christ is through your dying!
