The Spotless :Lamb

​ ESV5 Your lamb shall be without blemish, a male a year old. You may take it from the sheep or from the goats,

This lamb had to be spotless!This speaks of the sinless nature of the Lord!

​ ESV13 For if the blood of goats and bulls, and the sprinkling of defiled persons with the ashes of a heifer, sanctify for the purification of the flesh, 14 how much more will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without blemish to God, purify our conscience from dead works to serve the living God.

​ ESV18 knowing that you were ransomed from the futile ways inherited from your forefathers, not with perishable things such as silver or gold, 19 but with the precious blood of Christ, like that of a lamb without blemish or spot.

They had to eat the flesh of this LambJesus had this strange passage

​ ESV47 Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever believes has eternal life. 48 I am the bread of life. 49 Your fathers ate the manna in the wilderness, and they died. 50 This is the bread that comes down from heaven, so that one may eat of it and not die. 51 I am the living bread that came down from heaven. If anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever. And the bread that I will give for the life of the world is my flesh.” 52 The Jews then disputed among themselves, saying, “How can this man give us his flesh to eat?” 53 So Jesus said to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you have no life in you.

JESUS IS THE SAVING LAMB

Bring this to the place when Jesus blood is applied to the doorpost of our hearts, we will be saved, we will be passed over when judgment comes.

WHY DID THE SACRIFICE HAVE THE BE BURNED, AND IF THIS IS AN ACCURATE SHADOW, OR TYPE OF CHRIST, WHY WASN’T HE BURNED LIKE THE OLD TESTAMENT SACRIFICES?(9) The purpose of the burnt offering was to make atonement for the sin of the offerer and thus to gain God’s acceptance. The offerer laid his hands upon the animal, identifying with it.31 More specifically, he identified his sins with the animal. Thus, when the animal was slain (by the hand of the offerer) it died for the sins of the offerer. It is not so much for the offerer’s specific sins (which are dealt with by other sacrifices), but rather for the offerer’s general state of sinfulness.32

THE HIGH PRIEST WAS STILL GUILTY OF SIN, SO HE WOULD NOT JUST LAY HIS HANDS ON THE SLAIN ANIMAL BUT WOULD PRESS HIS BODY INTO THE ANIMAL AS A TRANSFER OF HIS OWN SINs ONE OFFERING , FIRE CONSUMES, FIRE PURIFIES, FIRE REPRESENTS GODS JUDGMENT OF SINNow this is where you have to piut your big boy pants on, God is a God of Law, a God of Order. And the law had to be put in place because of trangressions, sin, lawlessness. And in the the old Testament A Covenant was placed between God and his people. He gave them system, of laws and a system for animal sacrifices by which they could be forgiven by Holy God. because the Word of God says that the wages of sin are death. Therefore in order to preserve God’s justice and provide a way of mercy in forgivness he implemented the system of sacrifices.So why did the animals have to be killed and then burned. It was a complete purifying even of the High PriestJesus was the Lamb of God, the Sacrifice, but now we have a New High Priest, the Lord was perfect and sinlessThe Burnt sacrifce was completely consumed with fire, and it would have to be offered year after year after year. With the high Priest laying his hand on the animal as it died as a symbol that even the high Priests sin had to be taken away, animal burned, but temporary. it simply pointed day after day to the one Lamb that God would send

Ivan Petrovich Pavlov was a Russian physiologist

He inserted a small test tube into the cheek of each dog to measure saliva when the dogs were fed (with a powder made from meat).

Pavlov predicted the dogs would salivate in response to the food placed in front of them, but he noticed that his dogs would begin to salivate whenever they heard the footsteps of his assistant who was bringing them the food.

Pavlov (1902) started from the idea that there are some things that a dog does not need to learn. For example, dogs don’t learn to salivate whenever they see food. This reflex is ‘hard-wired’ into the dog. So the dog had learned an association between the metronome and the food and a new behavior had been learned. Because this response was learned (or conditioned), it is called a conditioned response (and also known as a Pavlovian response). The neutral stimulus has become a conditioned stimulus.

In behaviorist terms, food is an unconditioned stimulus and salivation is an unconditioned response. (i.e., a stimulus-response connection that required no learning).

Unconditioned Stimulus (Food) > Unconditioned Response (Salivate)

In his experiment, Pavlov used a metronome as his neutral stimulus. By itself the metronome did not elecit a response from the dogs.
